Bournemouth - Home

Yes, I think it should. Hopefully Can is available aswell. He didnt train yesterday.

If Origi plays like he did on Saturday it shouldn't be that big a miss.

However that's not even remotely guaranteed & the way Bournemouth will set up may be difficult for Origi to get the same time & space, whereas Mane could unlock tight defences.

Looks like the team is picking itself every week now due to our lack of depth and options. Wonder how close Hendo and sicknote are to being back.

If both Coutinho and Origi continue their good form from Saturday we should have enough to score a few goals.
Bournemouth will come to play football aswell, which could suit us a bit more.

Instead of a flat front interchanging 3, I'd rather we do:

origi-firmino
coutinho

Origi or Firmino are shit on the flank, so playing either there is just asking for headaches

We could possibly play Arnold on the right wing. Origi upfront.
Firmino on the left.
Wijnaldum, Can and Coutinho in midfield.

Arnold looked lively when he came on. I'd consider that. Coutinho like to be Central, and he would have more space ahead of him which is also good!!

Arnold could be a good alternative but I doubt Klopp will move Coutinho into midfield.

So same team with Origi in for Mane?

I'd drop Lucas, obviously. The issue with Mane is more troubling, given that he's the only player in our team who can offer a genuine threat out wide, the only player who has real pace and the only player who can finish.

Origi would be a very, very poor substitute.

Arnold was very impressive when he came on, and there's also Woodburn, so I suppose one of those three could come in.

Firmino out wide doesn't fill me with confidence if i'm honest. Origi out wide doesn't feel me with confidence either. Difficult decision.

Benefit of Lucas would be he effectively makes us a back 3, meaning Milner and Clyne sit higher up, putting less emphasis on Firmino needing to play out wide.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Grujic get some game time in this one.

Origi was excellent when he came on against the bitters, he was a different player to the one we've seen in recent weeks. I'd play him.
Him and TAA for me instead of Mane and Lucas. We need to have a go at these from the off.. no more slips please.

Enter, the Moreno...

Oh and sturridge, it can be the game of the pariahs!

You never know, Studge may still have a constructive part to play in this season.

For me:

--------------------Ming----------------------
Clyne-----Matip------Lovren------Milner
-------Trent AA--Can----Gini-------------
----Firmino----Origi----Coutinho---------

He'll probably flip Firmino and Origi though, Trent ahead of Clyne will work, we saw evidence of that on Saturday. Another alternative is Grujic for Lucas

Subs
Karius
Moreno
Klavan
Lucas
Grujic
Woodburn
Sturridge

I like that, but I'd probably ask them to be a bit more 4-4-2 (boring, I know) with Firmino and Origi on top - especially when we are not on the ball. Then push TAA and Coutinho forward when we are in possession.

We have to be better to break down stubborn teams and one way to do that is getting the ball moved forward at pace whenever we win back possession. With both Origi and Firmino up there we have that one more station to pin it too, otherwise we do have a tendency to become very stationary, passing sideways, a little forward a little backwards and then everyone is back defending against us.

In Lucas defence, we did score three against Everton with him on the pitch.
It's not as if our scoring dries up when he plays.
We average about 2+ goals when he starts according to: http://www.espnfc.com/player/108315/lucas

So realistically, our line up will be:

--------------------Mignolet

Clyne------Matip---------Lovren---------Milner

---------------Can---------Lucas
--------------------Wijnaldum

Firmino-----------Origi-------------------Coutinho

Or....

--------------------Mignolet

Clyne------Matip---------Lovren---------Moreno

---------------Can---------Lucas
--------------------Wijnaldum

Milner-------------Firmino------------------Coutinho

Modo - Just no!

Everton came to play. With Lucas in the team Bournemouth will set up not to concede, knowing we are effectively playing with 10 men with Lucas not being creative, fast, dangerous at shooting or good in the air when attacking corners.

With Lucas out of the team, Bournemouth might actually try and nick one, thus creating gaps behind.

Yeah... sure.....

It's definitely possible, but I think Bournemouth's strength are on the wings. So there won't be as much pressure on Lucas.

And the more is the need of players in the middle who's also contributing when we are on the attack - and for whatever decent traits Lucas do have that is surely not one of them. Going forward.
