I like him. I think he'll be a defoe/purple patch type striker for us

Every possibility he'll be a better kuyt

But can he successfully become the opposite of an inverted inverse, false contradiction of a number 9, with a sniff of retrogression on the side?

Borini, Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling are great options for the front three, basically Suarez and any other two gives us great options the change the game, and some depth to rest them up, good stuff.

I've got a feeling once he's fully fit he'll improve rapidly. The injury, though somewhat unfortunate, has at least afforded him more time to settle off the pitch and at the club. That's important for a young lad coming from abroad with little experience straight into the first team.

He's got proper competition for a place to overcome and motivation to make up for lost time. His movement and tireless work-rate are big pluses for Rodgers' style of play.

Just maybe, with the dust of the move settled and a few months under his belt in the club/country, he'll really kick on from here. I haven't given up on him yet.

I reckon by mid-march we'll see Sterling/Borini sharing games 50/50 on the left of a 3.

In all seriousness, if Borini is as good as some here rate him, a front 3 of him, Suarez and Sturridge could be mouth-watering. Having 3 players up front who are goal-hungry would be a first in quite a while.

I've a feeling Borini will be more Kuyt-like than anything, i.e. an irritation to opposing defenders not because of his skill or deadly accuracy, but because of his workrate, stamina and resolve to harass them and not give up on lost causes. He just strikes me as someone whom fans will embrace for his determination and commitment than for his finishing. Hopefully, he'll pick up Kuyt's knack for scoring important goals in big games.

We can only dream...
