Blackburn (H)

a well deserved win.
We were completely on top of the game for sixty five minutes.
Pepe only had to make one save aside from the goal despite, conceeding pocession to Blackburn for the last quarter.
Play like that for the rest of the season and we should be well up the table, hopefully challenging for where we should be.
Still think roy should go though.

That was the first enjoyable Liverpool game i saw this year. It was by not means flowing football, but there was attacking intent and we played to win.

Lucas and Meireles looked a decent pairing in Central Midfield.

I was quite impressed with Meireles. Kept things ticking on, and passed forward with a zip. He is also truly ambidextrous and that is refreshing to see. If Jonjo can prove to be a significant improvement on Lucas/Poulsen we may actually have a decent Centre Midfield partnership.

Gerrard, as ever, played his heart out and left everything on the pitch. I love him.

Kyrgiakos was commanding and was a real handful in the box.

Joe Cole and Maxi had better games compared to their recent standards.

Torres still looks a yard or two off the pace, but he is showing glimpses of returning to his best. He had plenty of chances and was supported very well. It is a little wonder that "he played with heart". It is very difficult to do so, when he is left isolated, but today that was not the case.

My money's on a combination of (a) safety-first tactics from successive managers and (b) a lack of confidence which those tactics have brought about.
That would make sence.............. if all the players had played under 'succesive managers'
Makes no difference. Even those that didn't play under them get sucked into the same mindset.

Will he get sacked this week or not? That's all I care about really now. A win doesn't make a difference or make me even feel the slightest bit happier. Strange what being a Liverpool fan has become.
The win does make me a little happier, but no more than that. I'd agree that getting shot of Roy is the most important thing.

liverpool currently have better attacking players than defensive players and such should be set up to attack. which the defenders and holding midfielders we currently have inviting pressure is frankly stupid.

a good win, lucas man of the match and soto was brilliant on both ends of the pitch. well done
Surely though, on the planet that you and everyone else from Rawk lives on, Lucas is man of the match every game?

Brian Barwick was in the stands today, sat next to Purslow. Anyone know if he's about to get a role in the club/board?

Very reminiscent of my thoughts.

I think there was flowing football for parts of that game. We passed it about well and the movement was good.

Ya, there were quite a few back heels and clever flicks that was easy on the eye. It was not an exhibition in retaining possession and cutting through defenses, but considering where we are on the table that was indeed a great step forward. But i still want Roy Hodgson gone. I want him gone before this newly found feel good factor is wiped out with more defeats.

I'm not looking as this as some sort of green shoot of hope that we can hang on to.

Well, that was a decent performance. I'm reluctant to go any further than that simply because I know I thought more of what we did as I'm judging it based on previous performances.

Add in the fact we were playing a really shit side, & it's best not to get too excited.

I'm made up to see the players playing for the side though, there seemed to be a vigor & spirit today that's been sadly lacking this season.

Either the players & staff have had a sit down & cleared the air, or something else has fundamentally changed...

I didn't see the game and tbh i don't really care about the performance, all that counts is that we got the 3 points on offer.

Well done lads.

Well, he hardly changed his game plan - he played the same team that started against Everton. Don't discount the fact that we played a crap Blackburn team, without their two best defenders, at Anfield. And don't discount the fact that there's been a lot of shit in the papers the past week and that the players would have wanted to react to that. It was a combination of all those things rather than any motivation or change in tactics by the old corpse. As we'll no doubt find out in the coming weeks.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

We defended far higher up the pitch and were pressing from the front throughout, which is a stark contrast from previous matches.

It could have been a Benitez side out there today.

I cant see how it wasn't.

It appears very much as though Roy gave the lads license to play attacking football today.

The Emphasis was very much on going out there to win for the 70 minutes as opposed to not conceding first and then seeing what we can get from it.

Yeah, and it was all because of Hodgson, was it?
So he gets slaughtered when we lose and no credit when we win?

That's just bullshit. I'm well pleased that we won but to suggest that that it was because of a tactical masterstroke from Hodgson is just fucking daft. Today was a response from Gerrard, Carragher, and Torres - who were all superb. Players rallied around and the likes of Lucas and Maxi raised their games. It also helped that we were playing a pretty shitty Blackburn side, at Anfield.

Yes, because the Budgie-faced old cunt is a really, really mediocre manager

Any knobhead who wants Budgie as our manager is a fucking *massive* bellend.

Why on EARTH should he get credit for producing our second win of the season, that too against lowly Blackburn, especially after choosing such a shit line-up?

What? So the players all decided to respond without telling the manager what they was going to do?

Player power huh?
