Done deal apparently according to some ITKs

Next Season Benitez is going to be the manager of Newcastle..

Doesn't surprise me though...Newcastle do have a tendency acquiring former Liverpool managers and players.
More often than not they're either finished as players or close to.

Keegan, Dalglish, Barnes, Rush, Owen...

Still, we paid £35 million for....*sigh*...hope Rafa buys him back.

They should take Rodgers. He's not awful, about Newcastle standard, and that way we could get Houll

LTW with a superb comeback...

Another odd story...

Rodgers that! Manchester City want Liverpool boss to replace Roberto Mancini

Irishman was on the Blues' wanted list a year ago - while Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is also in the frame

Main Man: City like the cut of Rodgers' jib
Ian Horrocks
Brendan Rodgers is the shock name in the frame to replace Roberto Mancini as Manchester City manager, writes the Sunday People.
The Liverpool boss has significant behind-the-scenes support at the Etihad despite a hit-and-miss first season at Anfield.
The Blues power-brokers believe the 40-year-old Irishman fulfils all the criteria they deem essential – like a willingness to blood young players early, media skills, and European experience – and the ace in his pack is that he is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Rodgers was City’s first choice a year ago when he was at Swansea and Mancini was on the ropes – before the dramatic turnaround that saw his side crowned Premier League champions.
Now the Irishman is back on City radar, with Mancini not safe even if he wins the FA Cup next month.
Rodgers has two years left on his Liverpool contract so City would have to pay compensation – but that won’t deter them.
Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is also a live contender for the City post – sources close to the Spaniard say he is desperate for the job.
But it’s the pursuit of Rodgers, just a year into his Liverpool career, that will raise most eyebrows.

I asked the Geordies a few weeks ago about Benitez and they were not happy.I reckon he would have a good chance of the league with City.

If Rafa were at Citeh, he'd have a good chance of the league as long as Fergie retires now and Mourinho stays away from Chelsea.

I don't think Newcastle would be a bad move for Benitez.

They're a decent club and have talented players who are underperforming because the team is set up appallingly. Benitez would sort out and you would see a big improvement from their current position. It's about the level he's at now.

A clash with Ashley is just as inevitable as one of the Boston victims managing the marathon in 12 months time and America going bonkers. Set it stone going to happen. Wouldn't Ashley have to buy out a 7 year contract to replace Pardew though?

Cant really see Rafa accepting the Newcastle job.
Be good if he did though. I dont think the Newcastle fans will hate him either. They absolutly hate Pardew these days, and when you lose the fans...

Ashley is mental and that is a recipe for trouble. He'll last 12-18 months.
