The Liverpool midfielder is an instant success in the Swedish allsvenska league.
He's only played 38 minutes (sub for 2 games) and has already scored 3 goals.

At this rate, it's starting to look like we made a big mistake letting him go. Maybe he would have been a better option than Spearing.

Here are two of his goals:

Im sure it was probably more to do with his attitude than his ability...

He strikes me as the kind of guy that would ALWAYS try fancy flicks and never uses straight forward passes.. He does have a swagger of arrogance around him - Not always a bad thing. However as a youth player trying to make the grade pissing people off probably isnt a good way to go..

He looked good in the reserves but he was released because of attitude problems and there was no point holding on to someone that was going to be a whining twat.

Didn't he go on trial to Blackburn and was turned down?

Think so.

Dunno if it was an attitude problem the lad thought he was ready to play first team football. He didn't get a chance and decided to leave. I've seen interviews with him after he left and he can't say anything negative about football in Liverpool, he loves the fans and Anfield but he wanted to play.

He was 18 though wasn't he? And he was demanding to be played in a team that already had Momo, Gerrard, Hamann, Xabi (I can't really remember but the midfield was a strong at the time, he had only been at the club for a season and was demanding first team football), so he was being an idiot by making first team demands.

You do have a point, but I think this falls into the age old discussion about having promising youth players and never giving them a taste of first team football. Some might argue that youth/reserve players must be patient but what has that brought us?
The likes of Spearing, Darby etc that are never going to be good enough it seems. These lads are now 20, 21?
I hate to say it but Everton seems to better than us at producing young talented players. Their players are thrown into the deep end when they're 17, 18 years old. Gosling, Rodwell, the nigerian lad etc.

THe problem is, when we throw our younger players in at the deep end, it seems they have to be world beaters straight away or they are immediately labelled shit.

Look at the treatment of Insua, N'Gog, Spearing, etc.

Not good examples. Insua IS shite, he shouldn't be a FB he is far too small and way too slow with a desperately poor positional sense. N'Gog has had virtually a whole season and if you are going to be a brainless chicken in front of goal (he does panic) then he just doesn't have it. I really liked Spearing and thought he had a good chance of making it .... he probably does at someone like Tranmere Rovers but not now he's 21 yrs old and at Liverpool, 'it's' just not there for me.

Some of our younger players DO need first team game time though, 15 mins here, 10 mins there. Blood them and see how they react.. If they are good enough we'll see something in them. Everton do that far better than we do ... through necessity. Roy may be a big improvement on Rafa though.

This is the guy Leicester ended up releasing whilst Spearing was playing regularly during their promotion bid.

I thought the guy showed a fair bit of promise for the U-18's whilst he was here but a couple of goals as a super sub in a shit league is pretty meaningless as far we're concerned right now.

The same? If Pacheco ends up on the bench in the Swedish league, we'll have been proven right to not give him a chance.

I agree though - he needs to be given a chance this season. If he goes out on loan to Spain, I don't think he'll want to come back.

Three goals in 56 mins is good. However this is the "mighty" allsvenskan where hardly anyone scores so any number of goals in 56 mins would raise eyebrows 8)

I know but he just turned 20 years old. Come on.
Tippeligan isn't exactly the beacon of football either.

Btw
Do you know why Norwegians crawl in supermarkets?
They're looking for low prices...

Lazy and slow as fuck. He stood out for the kids because he was a biggish presence but we were right to let him go. He's been rejected by Blackburn and done shite at Leicester too. I think Leeds were having a look at him on trial and he was gash there aswell.

It seems like another dig at little Spearing. I'm not his biggest fan but i'd like to see Jay play with our better players for once. Every time he's played for the first team he's played with the cunts or kids. Away at Arsenal he was alongside Plessis with N'Gog and Voronin ahead of him for instance, its a horrible task. I think the Sunderland game was the same but with Lucas beside him?

For all I know he could turn out good.

That said however he didn't make it at Liverpool simply because he didn't show enough potential. Had he been great or extremely promising at least I'd like to believe that he was still lingering on.

He's not first young Swede who hasn't exactly made the best of an early swap however only for him to come back to Sweden and do very well later on.

One Denni Avdic played a few years in Brondby as a youth-player without ever making it to their first team line-up then went home and is now, if I'm not mistaken, one of the hottest names in Allsvenskan?

Their can be other factors to a player leaving like homesickness and failure to settle.
