Ah well. No replay to squeeze in to the fixtures, no embarrassing defeat by any means, not outplayed at all, Webb may feel he owes us one, & no match for Everton to try to kick us to shit in either. Could be worse. I'm not too unhappy.

We deserved to win not lose (did they even have more than 3 shots on target ?) but with Sturridge and Suarez not making the most of the golden chances given to them we ended up unluckily going out. Not too arsed TBH.

Another trophyless season*, pretty gutted with studge missed chances, should have won

*we wont win the league

Tough to lose a game that we should have won. But .... no one was sent of, no one was injured, Sturridge got his misses out of him, and we go on to hopefully better things. If I'd been offered the choice late Wednesday of late goal v Fulham or win in the Cup, I know what I'd have chosen - every time. I care far more about beating Swansea than winning this. Hopefully, end of season, we'll see losing today as a good thing.

we need to sort out this sturridge/suarez situation. suarez is still good but much less effective on the wing, sturridge was poor today

right , if we do get into the champs league will you numpties care about winning things next year ?

We played well. Created so many chances, and as I said earlier in the match thread, footy is a game of inches ...

When we beat them 5-1, we got a goal that was borderline offside in the 1st minute, and then SKittles just gets his boot in to deprive Giroud of a goalscoring chance. THey never recover.

THis game, we create two good chances which Sturridge fluffs, and then they punish us in the box. Second half, Suarez is an inch away from a goal, and two seconds later, they race down the other end and score the 2nd goal.

I'm not that fussed - I didn't think we'd win the game but the fact we played hard, and created so many chances leaves me optimistic vs Swansea.

Webb is an absolute coward of a ref though - Yes, he could have sent off Gerrard for a second bookable offense, but that penalty call was even more 'gimme' than the first one and he chickened out. He's a coward, and I honestly don't get why the FA see in him.

Sturridge gets those 2 early chances on his left and we're infront. Ah well, after scoring in 8 concecutive games he was due a goalless one. Rather it happened in the cup.

Suarez was good but desperatly need a goal now.

Sterling and Gerrad MOM

Before the match I woukd have been annoyed, but we played well, so won't be damaged morale wise, & a replay being squeezed in could have fucked our league form, & facing an Everton determined to break legs in the run in would not have done us any good.

Course I'd have preferred to go through, but there's a definite silver lining to be found in this.

I'm more pissed off than I thought I'd be. Probably because of how the game went. Gutted tbh.

Suarez shooting straight to the keeper on numerous occasions has nothing to do with his position.

Oh and Webb is shite. Really shite.

2 blatant penalties now that he's not given us. Both times he's been in an excellent position.
Both on Suarez and both on 2-1 to the home team.

Best ref in England? Hahahaha

The foul on Suarez and the refusal to send off Steven Gerrard were two of the worst decisions of the season. Howard Webb, World Cup referee.

Whole stadium, Arsenal and Liverpool fans alike, join in a chorus of 'you're not fit to referee'.

Not Howard Webb's finest game

Man of the match - Howard Webb. Influential on the outcome, always available to get involved & made sure that the game was about him.

We were better and relentless. Dead on penalty not given. Disappointed but not disheartened devastated. YNWA

This post match interview is the most I've ever heard Arsenal fans sing.

He just said 'earlier today, when Arsenal fans were silent...' Hahahaha.

What are the odds of Webb getting the Utd-Liverpool game at OT then?

Hopefully good. He has to watch that back again it's part of his post match duties, & stevie will definitely remind of it before the next match he referees, so he will give us the benefit of the doubt somewhere. That's how referee's work, rightly or wrongly.

Sterling is developing every single game ... He'll defo be in the England squad, and I just hope his head continues to be wherever it is now. He's really really impressing.

I am not sure Rodgers made the right call starting Agger today ...

"Howard, mate, you should definitely have sent me off in that match, like. You better be more alert this time round."

I think Agger was his usual self for the second goal. He's great against slow unaggressive non-physical teams though.

We need Sunderland to go out against Brighton/Hull and not reach the quarter finals or it will postpone our league match at home to them, currently scheduled for Monday March 10th.

If we could defend we would walk this league, we outarsenaled Arsenal at Arsenal played some lovely stuff and should have won easily - could easily have been another 5-1. We are better than them and its a long time since you could say that with conviction. Keep Suarez sort the defence out and we are good to go next season, top 4 is massive for us.
