I always rated Alonso and what he brought to us. I remember arguing the toss when he was belittled after his sale.

So far Aquilani hasn't run, tackled, pressed or made things happen. He's played a lot of 1-2s that often get the original player into trouble, and a lot of long, speculative passes to no-one in particular. I was at Alonso's debut and it though we lost, he shone. Alberto looked bemused against Reading, and he didn't appear to have the game intelligence we need. Alonso was practically Rafa's first signing, it is looking like selling him was the beginning of the end for Benitez. I would rather have Scott Parker than Alberto Aquilani right now. Though I hope I am proved wrong.

I hope you are too. I think Aquilani has potential but it certainly needs to come to fruition before the end of the season.
