We're going to buy Poulson too, as cover for Crockliani, and Poulson will end up playing many more games.

The Echo's already said we're not interested in Poulsen.

I'm very pleased.

Now Silva.
can't see it at all. i don't know why everyone has their hopes up.

Because he's the kind of thing we need, he's Spanish which makes it feel likely and Valencia have no money.

But yeah, if I had to bet either way I think we'll see Voronin on the wing instead.

*goes back to thinking about Aquilani*

Well, this is good news . . . I think.

Dunno anything about him, but I like the way e've wrapped it up quicksharp rather than fucking about for ages like we normally do, and then paying well over the odds for some mediocre Plan B.

If he's shit though, then it'a all Oncy's fault

he looks tailor-made for arsenal based on that great little vid
Wow, he looks seriously talented in that compilation! If United or Arsenal had signed him, I'd be very worried... and jealous.

I'm convinced there's one more big signing to come. One class attaciong player.
i think we'll sign another proper player but i very much doubt it will be villa or silva.

Yeah, I wouldn't get over excited thinking we'll get one of them, but I wouldn't rule it to be outside of the realms of reality.

BBC reporting 20million *pounds* too. I'm suddenly less excited, it means less to spend on our other signing we need to make.

I like how we sorted this deal (with Roma), but I wish we spent a bit more time trying to knock the price down.

check this link. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=13752&cc=5739

maybe wiki is adding internationals, friendlies and babel like 30 second sub appearances etc.

08-09 he started 7 league games and 3 in the champions league

07-08 he started 11 league games and 4 in the champions league

06-07 he started 9 league games and 4 in the champions league

05-06 was the last time he started 20 league games.
cheers probably more reliable than wiki alright!

man city.

If he can stay fit, then I like what I see.

We definitely need another couple of players in soon though.

Hi Everyone

Really sad Xabi has left - a little slow but I got used to him.

Now - this new chap we have just signed, does anyone know if he was part of that team that United put 7 past at Old Toilet in the CL a couple of seasons ago ? - if so why the fuck have we signed him ? - I mean he is going to be responsible for keeping our midfield ticking over isn't he ?

Regards,

MORON

His appearances have been very limited for the last five years.
Enough to make his signing a massive risk.
Hope he works out though, some of the bits and pieces I'm seeing are very, very exciting.

He wasn't playing in that match.
Injured?

We've got some Maltese relatives staying with us at the moment and a couple are big fans of Juve and Serie A in general who know quite a bit about Aquilani. They rate him pretty highly, but they do say his injury record is a concern.

I hope we gave him a real beast of a medical.

Yeah, definitely NOT the same medical team that did Degen's medical doing this one.

Also, Alberto? That's Albert & Alberto. It's not right.

A few points:

- I'm not bothered about the price. We've bought this lad two days after Xabi's fucked off, so let's not beat around the bush - he was obviously Rafa's first-choice target. Whether it was 16/18/20M is inconsequential really, so long as he's the main man Rafa wanted, which it looks like he was.

- He's not a Xabi-type player, from the little I've seen of him, so to expect some rolls royce of a footballer to stand in the middle of the park and pick dreamy passes out is unfair. He's more 'wrokmanlike' than Xabi, and the best comparison I can make is of a really young Gerrard.

- It's going to take him a LOOOOOOONG time to settle. Few reasons; our midfield was nigh on perfect last season, and Xabi was at the heart of it. You can't just take him out, replace him with another and expect the machine to keep working, regardless of what quality Aquilani has. That, and the fact that the Premier League is a beast for foreign midfielders to adapt to - Veron never could, it took Mascherano a year on West Ham's bench, Ballack's another great example. Thirdly, for whatever reason - Italians struggle in the Premier League. Bar a few class strikers, I can't think of too many from Serie A who've succeeded. Serie A has a bit of grunt about it when it wants, but it doesn't have the same ferocity, pace, and tenacity English football has. It's gonna take our man some time to adapt to tackles and pressure coming in from areas that he can't see. In Serie A everything happens in front of you, not so in England.

- The injury record is a concern. That's a Hargreaves-level of injuries he's got there. This aint Stevie-G growing pains at a young age, he's 25 and has played an average of what, 15-20 games for 3 or 4 years. He can be quality, as Hargreaves is, but if he's spending his prime years on the treatment table, then he's no good to us.

- I wish him good luck. He's a footballer, and a capable on at that. He'll benefit enormously from playing alongside such quality, and I expect Rafa to ease him in gently. If he starts more than 20 games in all competitions, that'd be a surprise to me. We'll see the best out of this lad (if we ever do) in 2 years time, which currently isn't when we need it. Que sera sera.

- Oncy's right; True Romance is a belter of a movie. I love the soundtrack.
