that Rafa still has the dressing room is fucking delusional.

I have never seen a team who has played so less for their manager. Gutless, spineless, weak, vulnerable, pathetic, and once again spineless. How the fuck can our manager allow these players to wear the shirt.

Pathetic, absolutely no show of passion for the club and I am so flat with it all.

Because he sees them like this;

He doesn't have the 1st clue as to what this team needs to rejuvenate our season.

Oh. Are we playing this weekend?

Against a team far better then Reading..... Dreads thinking about the outcome.

Only two more days til the weekend though.

Which is much more than most others gave yesterday.
I'm so gutted. It's GH's last days all over again.

I think it'd be nice if we just got rid. There's too much deadwood

I just want him gone.

I've lost all feelings regarding football, and it looks like the players have aswell.
I'm not even sad when we lose, I'm just fed up. A big meehh.
I'm not going to watch the game on saturday, I'm just sick of it. It's the same shite every time, and last night I felt like having a break from watching us. Usually that feeling is gone when I wake up the next day. But for the first time, it's not. That useless, spineless and gutless performance was the final drop.

Looking at the dross that plays for us, thats not even fit to wear the shirt. Seeing them getting run over by a Championship side that has one 5 games this season.

Rafa has made some really big clangers, and it's biting him in the ass.
Firstly, he sold Riise without replacing him. Getting rid of a left back that was made for the Premiership, leaving us with 3 that aren't suited for it at all.

Underestimating Alonsos departure and OVERestimating Lucas ability. Have you ever seen a player get beat so easily in the middle of the park? Knock the ball past him and run, everytime. No wonder our back four is shaky, they get hit time and time again.

Not having a great second striker after Torres. That has really been a big blow.

After last season (and the most part for the rest of Rafa's tenure) when we fought for every inch of the pitch and never let up, I just can't fathom why we have looked so toothless at times this years.

Me thinks it is a number of factors, but I refuse to believe it is solely Mr. Benitez fault.

I agree, but we really are in depserate need of a shake-up. I'm a big Rafa fan, but at times it looks like the only major shake up we can do is replacing the manager. I mean even our top guns are not functioning.

We looked quite the opposite team against Villa mind.

It's the two consecutive Reading-games that has really sucker punched us in terms of morale and belief.

We need to rise to the challenge against Stoke and Spurs and can we muster same will and determination as we did against Villa, we'll get the six points.

And I fully expect us to. Say what you will media about Rafa's need to win silverware (FA Cup) but a top four place in the EPL is the true prize. We will be ready.

A top four finish (which we won't achieve by the way) is a prize ? Fucking hell. Finishing fourth outweighs winning silverware ?

Clearly a fix. I'm suprised some people are still even remotely optimistic this morning. I'm fucking suicidal. And very sweary.

I went to sleep yesterday before the game went into ET. I'm just not interested in watching these 'professionals' not give two shits about the club.

I have always been know to be stupidly optimistic about the game by my mates over the years, but on here I look positively suicidal compared to some.
This is not about being optimistic or pessimistic, it is about being realistic.
Nessie is right there are too many people who are deluding themselves, and have done so for far too long over the abilities of the manager.
I wa, for decades, a typical old school supporter that if you dressed a pig in a red shirt you would not here a bad word said about it, I stuck with Ged to the bitter bitter end, out of loyalty to the club, but I saw the light over Rafa years ago over his faults, and trust me they are all blindingly obvious.
People have allowed themselves to be kidded for too long with the smoke screen of the owners, Rafa has played on that very cleverly, and not for the first time.

Previously, as an optimist myself, I always go into a game believing we can win until the last month or so.

However the truly worrying aspect of the current malaise is the apparent lack of confidence coupled with an anxiety among the players that they cannot hold a lead.

I don't know if this is because of fear of failure or rigid tactics or lack of team spirit. For me, personal pride would spur me on to greater effort but even Gerrard looked like he was looking for a way off the pitch.

I look at the role call of players that play for us and there is no way we should be struggling like this. They say a change is as good as a rest, perhaps it is time. Even us looking like were up for a football match would be nice.

Just forget 4th place. We are nowhere near good enough to compete for the top four this season. Nowhere near good enough.... We are a sad bunch of players feeling sorry for ourselves with no management to ensure they pull the strings together. We have no plan for how to attack, and we give away at least 5 huge chances each game...

I couldn't help wondering how Maxi felt during that game; he was probably on the phone to his agent asking what the escape clauses in the contract were.

As Vlad has said there are plenty on here who have deluded themselves that Rafa was the answer for a long time. To be fair I think partly they were deluded by a combination of issues. It's never simplistic enough to allow a 10 line post on a football forum to accurately reflect the multi dimensional factors which make up a football club - certainly not an internationally iconic one such as ours. However, Rafa has flattered to deceive on numerous occasions and, coupled with the memory of that famous night in Istanbul with which he will always be associated, its been enough to deceive those who wanted to believe.

A tremendous manager in Europe he has never been convincing in the league and has failed to fully come to grips with the differences in mentality and style here which separate it from the other elite leagues of the world.

I must admit to thinking Rafa was a decent Manager after we won the CL and FA Cups and got record points in the Premier League. Obviously I don't have any of Nostradamus' genes as some others do.

Looking forward: what is to be done?

Yep mate. I'm with you here. I thought Rafa was the best manager for us. I'm not convinced anymore. Very very sad.
Same question - what's next?

It does when it carries a greater financial reward with it, because nowadays that's crucial to winning the silverware which counts above all others, namely the Premier League trophy. Unfortunately.
