That for the first time in 28 years of supporting the reds, I *think* I want us to lose the Chavs game?

-We're out of the CL already
-We'll likely be in the Europa anyways

but the thought of the Scum finally 'knocking us off our perch' just sickens me and will be as dark a day as I can remember in my football watching days.

Anyone riding the same desperate boat as me?

I'll ALWAYS want liverpool to win. no fucking way do I want liverpool to draw or worse lose to chelsea. willing chelsea on against my beloved team, fuck that I haven't sunk so low, yet.
and for the record I wanted liverpool to win against b'burn.

if the mancs get 19, they get 19. we've had TWENTY FUCKING YEARS to get our house in order.

I think the scenario is quite poetic and will resolve like the ultimate Shakespearean tragedy.

The old withering King has to decide whether to throw himself on his sword.... or let his Kingdom finally fall.

I agree Neil. Maybe Ro-Land can join up with Fwankly Fwank and have an alternative FANS forum for people who 'support' Liverpool but who are more worried about the Mancs?

it's bitter and its small time. if I knew someone who had supported chelsea when we played them, that's their choice and their prerogative but if I heard that same person calling everton 'bitters' I'd tell them to shut the fuck up.

I don't know if you're a cunt but if you think this way, you're a sorry excuse for a Liverpool supporter.

We had a similar situation when Blackburn needed to beat Liverpool at Anfield to stop Man Utd. winning the league. Plenty of Liverpool supporters said they were going to cheer on Blackburn to win. In the end, nobody did, and in the event United drew that day so Blackburn won the league anyway.

It's just not sensible to want the opposition to win. If you are a Liverpool supporter you want the Reds to win every time and hang the wider consequences.

I think it's a pretty naive and dense argument to simply question one's 'support' of Liverpool - as the consequences are far more deep rooted than a single game.

Incidentally, there are plenty of people on here who said 'they don't care' or have 'given up watching' because of Rafa Benitez........does that make them any less 'supporters'?

It's a fundamental feature of supporting a football club that when you go to the match, you want your club to win.

Going to a match to support your club's opponents is just contrary to the emotional bond between you and your club. It's unrealistic.

No.

As for your original question, I really think it's easy to stand of the high ground and say "We should want to win every game".

But should we help United win the title, just think of all those United fans telling us "19" next year.. unbearable.

Now we can't qualify for the CL, I don't care whether we finish 5th or 8th, I just don't want United to win the league.

I really couldn't give a shit what United fans have to say. It surprises me how many people get upset by texts they might receive, people they know, etc. Who cares?

I get annoyed and tired of their smugness. Perhaps you don't live around many of them?

my own brother is a manc and he will rub my nose it but fuck that I will always want liverpool to win a game. if chelsea want to be champions let them deserve it and if they beat liverpool then fair enough but I know I will be supporting liverpool the entire time.

Excellent point here.

I can't imagine anyone physically attending the match would not want Liverpool to win (and I believe you're a season ticket holder) but for those of us simply watching on TV, it's far easier to take a different stance.

Supporting Chelsea to win would be allowing your perfectly reasonable hatred of the Scum to exceed your love for Liverpool.

Can you imagine saying "Come on Frank, lash that penalty past Pepe Reina?"

You just wouldn't be able to. I promise! ;D

As someone inferred, this isn't about supporting your club in one game, its about supporting the relative strength of their overall achievement. Regardless of what Mancs may or may not say, a significant part of supporting a squad of human beings that you don't really know is about the rivalry with other like-minded fans doing the same with other squads of players, and relying on your guys to get one over their guys in any shape or form possible.

I don't think any Liverpool fan would go into the game with a Chelsea scarf as such, but I don't see why its out of order being somewhat nonchalant or managing to raise a bit of a smile afterwards if its to make no difference to our own European qualification ambitions and prevents your fiercest rivals overtaking your own record. A lot of it is emotion based, and if we beat Chelsea and it meant nothing to our own claims this season, it could well be that the sheer thought of watching countless images of Ferdinand and co lifting the trophy again *3 times in a row and all* would well get people reconsidering their objections now.

I'd always want the best possible result.

And I'd always want to know the 11 men on the pitch are giving it their all; if in this case it's not enough and they lose however, It's fair to say I'd be more relaxed about it than usual, especially given yesterday's results.

In a perfect world, Chelsea would've sealed the league by then, but I guess that's just not going to happen now.

When your hatred of another club is in danger of exceeding the love for your own club then I think every game for you is just going to be extra stressful.

There will be points scoring over trophy hauls, yes, but we need to be concentrated on our own situation rather than others.

United have been setting the standards for years, before that we did, it'll turn around. Don't forget they waited 26 years for the League and we took the piss relentlessly. Switch off the telly when the Mancs are on and avoid their fans.

Vent your spleen on SCM.

I am all for a Chelsea win at Anfield. What is the point of winning this game and let scum get 19 ?? Can we get 4th by winning this match ? Highly unlikely.

Fuck this season and let's try all means to stop scum overtake us.

It's been a bad season but wishing Liverpool to lose so that it stops Man Utd winning no. 19 is wrong in my eyes.

I'm amazed everyone doesn't share your thoughts on this matter.

What exactly do we gain from beating Chelsea? Fuck all.

We've been getting humped by the Portsmouths, Wigan's, Sunderland's etc etc all fucking season yet we'll probably end up beating Chelsea and leave Fergie, Gary Neville and his boys to overtake us.

Fuck me. I mean really; fuck me.

As for the original question, its a resounding yes for me. But you probably already knew that.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, who thinks we should "throw", not try or just let Chelsea win our last game of the season needs to have a serious word with themselves.

And probably consider following another club. Some Liverpool "fans" really make me fucking despair, they really do.

I hope we batter Chelsea.
And I hope because of it Manchester United win the league.
And because of that I hope our integrity as a club is cemented forever.
And because of that Fergie retires having knocked us off our perch.
And because of that we stop living in the past as a club and from top to bottom lurch out of our 20 year entropy and with new manager, new owners, new players in a new stadium we pull ourselves up by thebootheels and within 24 calender months we are once again the most successful club in England with 20 league titles.
That's what I want.
