Alexis Sanchez

WE don't know how he'll fare over here. He'll probably start well and get hyped like hell, as most Arsenal signings do. Then we'll see. He might be an Ozil, he might be an Henry. It'll take a while to know. Until then it's not worth discussing. The Arsenal obsession on here is very unhealthy, it's like some bloke peering through the curtains at the posh lot across the road, wondering what they've got now (a new TV? An ice cream maker? A treadmill? An exotic dog?). 'Stop being nosy, Colin, come away from the window, your dinner's getting cold!' 'Coh! Dinner? I bet they're having something really flash and expensive!'

IMO it's not even a matter of precisely who's in their squad, and how much personal grit or cowardice they possess. It's Wenger himself. I'm convinced of it. He's incapable of creating a team with a winning mentality, and even of sending one out with a pragmatic strategy in the big matches. I think somewhere along the way a few screws went loose in his head.

Why are we even discussing this anymore. Fuck Arsenal and fuck Sanchez.
We knew they would be one of our rivals for 4th and hopefully a league challenge regardless.

We'll sign 2-3 20 mill + players aswell when Suarez leaves so just chill.
Let them worry about how good our team wil be.

Sanchez would have been a very good signing for us but chose London. We move on. There are other players out there that will improve us aswell.

Let's hope that Sanchez struggles with the physicality and speed of the Premiership and our new players step up quickly to get us off to a flyer. Shaqiri would have been a good catch to offset this blow.

Our early games against the contenders will be a great barometer of where we are at this season.

Unfortunately I reckon Sanchez will measure up to the physical demands of the Prem. That's one reason why I wanted us to sign him.

That said, he's not going to be enough on his own. He'll definitely improve them but, as things stand, I still like our chances better.

I'm not too disappointed. I didn't think he was ever interested in coming here.

I'll burn down the internet if some idiots here spend all next season 'reminding' us we could have had Sanchez for x amount more than insert our new signing here.

He'll be great for them. Of course he will, he's a great player but let's close this and move on to our own targets.

Totally agree. I don't think he was ever a possible target, he was a hopeful makeweight in the deal but nothing more than that.

I just know i'll have to eat my keyboard come August when the ill advised 'told you so' bores try to ram Sanchez down our throats. Some will move the goal posts and oddly attack the club for not signing Sanchez. He's a shoo in to score in their opening game now. I'll be slapping a tenner on it.

Is this thread locked yet? 😉

Now that he's not coming, it's time to badmouth him! 😀

No wonder Messi doesn't like him! He tried 103 dribbles, and only just over a third of them worked. Messi dribbled 244 times, and a good bit more than half the time beat his man. Bony compares to Sanchez like a boss.

😀 😀 😀

LOL Halmeister in pessimism shocka.

Ha. I just can't see it this year. As good as we were last year, other teams were poor (United, Chelsea) and won't be that bad again, while everyone around us is improving and adding to their squad. Us, however, have just lost our best player, one of the best players in the world, and a man who was responsible for about 50 goals or something daft. To challenge for the league we had to add to our best, instead we've been forced to sell. I don't think any of the players we have signed/are linked to are ready to push us up to the top yet. Sanchez would have gone some way into doing that, but.... he's gone to a direct rival.

I'd take 4th.

I don't know why people bother making bold predictions about anything, what's the point. Look at last season FFS and what our expectations were and where we ended up.

The lad could break his leg in his first game, he could be shit, he could be great, it doesn't mean it's going to have a significant difference in any way.

He's a good player and it's a bit gutting, but quit being defeatist fannies.

People say this shit every year, "everyone around us is improving". No. Everyone around us is evolving and buying, it's the nature of the game and happens every year. It happened last season, you know, when Arsenal bought Ozil and were going to walk the league.

I'd take 4th too, but only because it's so crucial.

Personally I'm at least going to see who we sign for the rest of the window, because we're obviously not done yet. Jeez, until yesterday Arsenal hadn't signed anyone at all, and then when they did it was to strengthen their strongest department (sort of, I know he might play as striker).

I've got faith in Rodgers. I think he's the best manager in the league.
