Advice regarding Sunday

Hi All - Managed to score myself a couple of tickets for the Kop on Sunday. It will only be my 4th time going and my mates 1st time (being the OOTs that we are) Anyway ive never been on a Sunday before and was wondering what the transport back to Lime St is like after the game finishes. Ive got to make the 6.30pm train back to London. Last time I went was to a champions league game in the evening, getting back to the city was a bit of a nightmare.

Are there cabs/buses etc? I figure with 45,000 people spilling onto the streets they are going to be pretty hard to get hold of - Anyone got any advice for me as to what is the best way to get back to city?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I've only cabbed it back to the station a few times, but I've tended to try and get away from the ground as quickly as possible after the game and then grab a taxi once I'm away from the worst of the traffic.

You are going to cut it very fine.

Walking is probably the most reliable way, it's just over two miles from the ground to the station, which would take around 45minutes at a fairly brisk pace.
If you left the game 5 or 10 minutes early you would be OK.
To be honest it's difficult to make it by car in that time, and finding a cab would be a lottery

regards

My advice is change your train...
[/quote]

Is that the last train on a Sunday? It might be. Maybe not, though.

I'm going to check

OK, according to Trainline there is an 18.48 departing Lime St, gets in at 21.04

And also a 19.48 getting into Euston at 22.29

Is it a 4pm KO?

Errr, this probably singles me out as a lazy bastard, but if youre out of your seat promptly bombing straight over the road and up the one way street opposite (to the top and catching taxis before they get into the one wayer) normally works.

Or pre book a cab at a fixed point 2 mins from the ground....

Kick off for this Sunday's match against Fulham is three o clock Steamer if that helps you time wise!

Yeh it's 3 pm kick. There's no issues getting to Lime Street by 6.30 ! Good point Count.

I always grab the Sheil RD circular bus (24) which stops right outside the ground and can be got from the Liverpool one bus station in town.

Don't we have footie buses that stop right outside Lime St, too?

Now that we are talking about Sunday's match, what is the story with teenagers in pubs in the UK?

I am going over for the Fulham match with my elder lad, aged fourteen.
If it was permissable I might drop into the Harry with him in tow either before or after the match.

I don't think they would know who was there, but as it stands I think it's OK anyway

"Children under 16 can go into pubs as long as they're supervised by an adult, but they can't have any alcoholic drinks.

Some premises may be subject to licensing conditions preventing children from entering, such as pubs that have experienced problems with underage drinking.

Children can drink beer, cider or perry (pear cider) with a meal in a restaurant when they're 16, if it's bought for them by an adult. "

Thanks for that Vlad.
I sincerely hope that my lad doesn't drink and he certainly won't be doing it with me around.

If there is anyone going into the Harry on Sunday I will try to drop by to say hello.

You need to lose the top hat and monocle mate.

And Oncey, if you are in the Harry on Sunday I will definitely try to be there.

That walk's a fucking nightmare. I've done it quite a few times, and it's to be avoided.

Yep.
It will be good to meet a few more of the SCM crew. I will have the young lad with me, so I doubt if I will be there for too long and I will be better behaved than normal as well.
Setting a good example and all that jazz 😉
