No idea if there is any truth to this, but an Egyptian reporter has tweeted that AFCON is being brought forward to January 3, ending on February 1. If true, this might mean that our players miss more matches than originally thought?

I think that this has already been dissed by AFC.

Fifa has publicly questioned whether Cameroon is ready to host the AFCON, with it being December and preparations having some way to go. So I can't see how it could be brought forward.

But this is Fifa and the CAF, so I'm ready to accept that just be ause something is stupid or ludicrous does not mean it won't happen.

As per @ismaeelmahmoudd, I understand that CAF are expected to announce an indefinite postponement of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations imminently. Discussions taking place over possible compensation for hosts Cameroon.

I'll be happy if AFCON is cancelled, but lets be honest, another implication of OMICROM is that games will likely be games going to reduced capacity, which will be shit both for entertainment and our title hopes. Let's see.

[article]Watford's Emmanuel Dennis and fellow striker Victor Osimhen of Napoli have both dropped out of Nigeria's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Hornets have reportedly refused to release Dennis, who has scored eight Premier League goals this season.

A Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) statement said Dennis had been excused because Watford were "baring fangs".

Osimhen has been ruled out following a positive Covid-19 test and is still recovering from facial fractures.

The injury in November was expected to rule the Napoli frontman, 23, out of the tournament, which starts on 9 January in Cameroon.

Dennis, 24, will now be available for Watford's league games against fellow strugglers Newcastle and Norwich, as well as their FA Cup third round tie at Leicester City on 8 January.

He and Osimhen have been replaced by Sparta Prague striker Peter Olayinka and Olympiakos forward Henry Onyekuru, while the Super Eagles have also been forced to make two changes in defence.

Rangers defender Leon Balogun and Cyprus-based Abdullahi Shehu have both been replaced by West Brom's Semi Ajayi and Tyronne Ebuehi of Italian Serie A side Venezia.

"In-form rapid raider Emmanuel Dennis, whose English Premiership club is baring fangs, has been excused to provide room for Czech Republic-based forward Peter Olayinka," Nigeria's official account said on Instagram.[/article]

Well done @King Binny keep planting those seeds on Manny Dennis

"Baring fangs"?
Dennis wasn't in the pool of players that Nigeria were planning to pick from. Then they did a last minute change and wanted Dennis in.
Watford rightly told them to fuck off.
