I saw Jordan Bowery when he played for Chesterfield and he was poor at that level, I was stunned when Villa signed him; he hasn't improved since his Chesterfield days = they should take him off and bring Holt on.

18 year old sub Jack Grealish was on loan at Notts County this season and I saw him quite a few times - he's gonna be a terrific player. Hopefully he might get a run out tonight as he goes on mazy dribbles and might actually cause City problems

Poor the Dreamie.

Next he’ll be claiming he was first to call Bobby a flabby melt....

No doubt he's having a great season.

You must be very gratified that you were the first person to recognise his talent

Not at all. He’s obviously had talent for years even before the Ireland England debacle. He’s been well known in Irish youth ranks. Although I did get slated for suggesting we sign him post the play off they lost 18 months ago. He was sublime that day vs Fulham and when I first thought he was ready for a big club.

He’s class. Would work so well here.

So has everyone come around to the idea Grealish would be a great signing for us?
Sometimes a player looks better than he really is at a smaller club because everything runs through him. Remember Lallanas stats at Southampton were similarly impressive. Then he kinda became a small fish in a big pond at Liverpool because he wasn't the centre of focus. But maybe kloop would get Grealish onboard the Liverpool system and still get the best out of him?

Yeah, fair point.

There's also the chance that around better players, the "big fish" may be even more effective. I'm sure there's some examples of that, too.

Fair point but for me Grealish has got way way more in his locker than Lallana and would excel with better players around him.

Players in other leagues,
Hakim Zeyich is apparently available for £40m, can play across any of the front 3 positions.
Whoever comes in, you have to believe Klopp will get right players for his system albeit one or two maybe made of ice cream cones

I just wonder if Klopp plays a system that would allow Grealish to prosper, and with that in mind, would he be worth the money to us? We all know Gini played a completely different role with Newcastle, and continues to play a different role for Holland-- an attack-minded midfielder with plenty of licence to drift into the penalty area. Klopp primarily uses other, quite contrary attributes in Gini– rigid positional discipline; the ability to doggedly protect the ball and distribute it safely with neat passing. Grealish, much like Maddison, whilst excellent players, would not get the freedom they enjoy in their respective clubs. Would they commit to the relentless pressing, the concentration required covering for FBs galloping ahead of them for 90 minutes and plugging those spaces? I don't see it.

I think your mixing him up with someone else, I've always been quite effusive in my appraisal's of Grealish. Maybe your thinking of my constant griping every time we were linked with Will Hughes (formerly Derby) who is still proving to be a pointless entity at Watford.

I think we've missed the boat on Grealish though, I reckon he's in the Maddison price range now and I'm not sure either of them are worth £70m+.

Good!

I love watching Grealish play, but the boy is a two footed tackle away from oblivion...

[article] Apparently, Grealish can wear whatever variety of shinpads he wants, as while the referees have to ensure that the gear is worn, they have no power over what size a player chooses.

It's a superstition that I've done all my life and I'm going to keep it that way," Grealish explained some time in 2015, via the Mirror.

A few referees have tried telling me but I've got to keep it like that.

I haven't had a kick on my shin yet and hopefully not any time soon [/article]
