Will Suarez leave? The 2014 version

If I could be bothered I'd see if I could prove Ross right or wrong with the ratio thing

For the sake of argument though, what kind of deal would people be happy with if he left.

50mill + Sanchez

40 mill + Varane and Di Maria

Or 80-90 mill in cash

LUIS SUAREZ will shock Liverpool in the summer by insisting he wants to leave Anfield for a new career in Spain. Real Madrid and Barcelona have approached England’s Footballer of the Year and are ready to meet a release clause understood to be £67.9m.

I never get this, do papers always put in oddly specific sums to try and make there information look more legitimate? I can't imagine during contract negotiations Suarez camp going "No no £68m is too high, £67.9m max"

Losing players has seen us come out of it smelling of roses more often than not, I'm not saying I want us to sell, it's just not nailed on to be as devastating as some make out, as long as we don't go Spurs way and blow it on 20 midfielders and a striker that can't run.

I agree Mark. If we did get the huge fee that most are expecting and that money is spent well, we could very realistically be an even better side for it.

It might have been a blag but I was going to say £55m + Sanchez would be acceptable in answer to Hansern's enquiry.
No it wouldn't, that would value him at £70million.

He's worth £100million. He's better than Ronaldo or Bale were when they left their clubs, and having just signed a new deal in the last 6 months (and being in the champions league when comparing to Bale), we're in a much better position.

Sanchez for £15m.......seriously?

values him more like 85 or 90 million I'd have thought. I just hope it's settled one way or the other soon.

If he was 3-4 years younger we might have been able to get very close to £100mill for him, but as it stands I doubt we'd get anywhere near that figure.

Yeah, I'd accept that aswell. If he tells the club he wants to go then thats a good deal.

But Liverpool doesn't have to sell. For that same reason, I seriously doubt that Southampton will budge from its £30 million valuation of Lallana.

Forgive me, that was a typo, I meant £80m, valuing Sanchez at £25m. Original point remains, its far to little, we shouldn't start talking unless its £80m plus Sanchez, and that's only if he wants to leave, they can get to fuck if he doesn't.

80M would be a solid fee for Suarez. He might be more valuable than that figure to us, but I think that's around the maximum feasible fee that could be paid for him.

Really though, if we do sell him to Spain, we should be trying to get talented players back alongside some cash. In swap deals, non-marquee players tend to have their value deflated, and we should take advantage of this.

I want Suarez to stay of course but if he wants to leave I'd like to have Sanchez+cash. He'd be an instant hit.

Do you think the release clause (if it exists) is/was for if we didn't qualify for the CL? that's what seems the most likely scenario, who knows?
Hard to know isn't it. it's obvious there's a clause, or a number of them, in his contract. but we can only hope that he will want to stay and play champions league with us. would be nice if he said he was staying but I don't expect him to do that.

Daily Fail reporting that Suarez has told friends a clause does exist at £65m and he is confident of joining Real Madrid this summer.

We don't need to sell, and just like Southampton are demanding what Lallana is worth to them, we should be demanding what Suarez is worth to us. Fuck off with £80million, I'm getting tired of the fact that Madrid think they have free reign to the best players in the premier league, if we have to sell Suarez, and I really hope we dont, Barca/Madrid can cough up for him, next season is far far too important to fuck up.

Look, if we get offered 80 million quid for Suarez, we'll sell.

Pretty much. There's probably a bit of mutual respect going on, we made him stay last season and the one before, he's got us in the CL. As much as we want him to stay, he's more than repaid his transfer fee with the performances he's put in. I don't want him to go, I just don't see us keeping him a third time.

Yeah heard it fairly right that he's off.
Ah well.
We find the new Suarez then sell in 3 or 4 years whilst winning the square of fuck all in the mean time.
Happy Monday!
