Who will replace Henderson?

I think we'll default to Allen. He's been the go to guy recently and not Lucas.

Henderson's energy will be a big miss against Chelsea though.

So what's the deal with his suspension then? Anyone know? I do remember hearing that a straight red is no longer an automatic 3 game ban, but I've no idea how they actually decide it. Some kind of violent conduct thing?

Allen runs more than Henderson, not by much I might add, but he's every bit as energetic if not more.

I really hope that's true and there's only a 1 game ban.

I'm now a bit worried about the coming 4 games. Losing Henderson and Sturridge leaves the squad really really thin - and it means we'll have nothing at all on the bench.

Suarez will have to carry the attack himself, and he's looking jaded of late.

Henderson's energy can be replicated by Allen theoretically, but Henderson's also one of our emotional leaders on the pitch, and we'll miss that massively if he's out for 3 games.

He has looked a little jaded for a while now, yeah, but I wonder whether the absence of Sturridge might help him.

We have been brilliant in attack but not quite as brilliant as we could be because there has been a noticeable loss of sharpness from the front two and generally everyone is being a bit more selfish now for whatever reason.

Ideally we'd have everyone firing on all cylinders but failing that focusing the attack a little more might be a good thing. Not totally convinced myself - just a thought!

Maybe - I mean Suarez was scoring like a machine when Sturridge was out earlier.

Anyway, the Norwich defence collectively collapsing again at the sight of Suarez is just what we need at the moment!

I'm more bothered about potentially losing Sturridge. With him out we're putting everything on Suarez and like Dmish said, he looks tired and tbf during the 2nd half it looked like he was running on empty.
We expect Suarez to do well against Norwich but they are now fighting for their lives so they're gonna do their best to make it difficult for him.

You get the feeling that we're at the stage of the season where we might just need a little boost from somewhere, a bit of a supporting act from the youth teams or something. It's a pity Ibe's on loan, he could be perfect as a bit of a trump card. I'd still try to find someone a bit different to put on the bench though, if we can. Maybe Sinclair, or Dunn. Even Peterson.

This is exactly the sort of situation for which Moses and Aspas signed - but they're both such apathetic players, that you might as well play the kids instead.

TEX-MEX!!!

Oh well, Aspas has moaned he hasn't had a chance as a forward, so maybe give him a chance and see if he has a brief moment of inspiration. I'm all for wild cards at this point in the season - everything gets so over-analysed, an unfamiliar player can cause havoc without always knowing what he's doing (e.g. Rosenthal the last time we won it).

I'd actually genuinely consider Teixeira against Norwich to replace Henderson. But I really meant an attacking player to replace Sturridge.

This is quite difficult now - he has been a consistent presence in our team. For now I would actually go for Lucas and he can pass the ball and has the energy but maybe not the pace of Henderson. The issue is not with Norwich but more so against Chelsea where I think having Henderson would be the better choice.

I was watching the Chelsea highlights tonight on MOTD and it looks like they are having the same issues as we had under Dalglish - which is that they create chances but cannot score them. At some point those chances are going to fly into a net.

Kompany got only a game for his red but that was because it was a professional / cynical foul denying a goal scoring chance rather than for a violent act or a dangerous tackle. I think there's no get out for Henderson and it's three games nailed on.

I think Allen will be a proper fill-in for two of those games. The Chelsea game is obviously the one everyone should be concerned about.

Incidentally, just read a stat that Yaya Toure is the only player in the league to have completed more passes that Henderson.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Allen start vs Norwich and Palace, and Lucas against Chelsea.

Of course if Sturridge is injured then both will start.

We'll then have a bench of Jones, Kolo, Agger, Texieira, Alberto, Moses, Aspas. Wonder who will come in for Moses when we play Chelsea.

Was never in doubt, but anyway, here's the official confirmation:

Liverpool FC - Jordan Henderson - 13/04/2014 to 05/05/2014:
Suspended from all first team football until the Club have completed 3 first team matches for a Sending Off in a match played on 13/04/2014.

Very nasty challenge. Don't think it was intentional though. A combination of fatigue and frustration imo, all because he got the ball too far ahead of him.

And desire to stop them having the ball with two mins left. Will to win and desire. Never meant it in my eyes, Gutted for him.

Shame innit. Don't want to fuck with a winning team, and Henderson hasn't just improved in terms of covering ground lately, his long passing from deep and his little flicks around the box are getting better all the time.

If anything made me double take yesterday it was the pointless late introduction of Moses, and that daft useless cunt ended up causing this.

Could we appeal it, and maybe push back when it starts from, maybe leave one or two of them to next season?

I don't think it will matter much, he's been great the last while, but maybe not so much the last few games, Allen or Lucas should be enough for the last few games.

I think they deal with them double quick now, so it'd only give us an advantage if say the Chelsea game was this wed. Otherwise it'll be done before the Norwich game I think.

Now Gerrard's off the yellow card watch, hopefully he can't start flying into tackles again which will give us that extra bite in midfield with Hendo out. I got the feeling he was being a bit reserved with his slide tackling lately.

I would go with Gerrard, Lucas and Allen to give that bit of control in midfield, and move Coutinho up top in a 3, with Suarez and Sterling.

He has been, how the fuck he's managed it is beyond me, it's some achievement to have such an impact yet keep that part of your game out of it, even more so when you consider that's his natural game & he's playing as a defensive midfielder!
