Lucas... He is an engine.. He may not have the distribution of Henderson.. but we have other areas on the pitch that can cater for that..
So as having an Engine in midfield is more important... Lucas it is 100%

Allen actually ran more than Henderson the last set of stats I saw. Mad but true.
Sturridge being out for Chelsea could actually do us a favour imo, us playing one up top would give us the extra man in midfield & we still have enough up top to score.

We don't really want to go from Hendo's energy and attacking drive to two midfielders who'll be inclined to stay put. Allen can keep the flow going, with Lucas maybe coming on if we need to tighten things up, but Moses, Teixeira and Aspas need be ready to do a job further up the field.
Allen would be my choice.

Allen for me for a better balance between attack and pressing defence up high. I wouldn't rule out a surprise if Sturridge is out - e.g Aspas or Moses starting. However, Moses can't play against Chelsea, and I think it makes sense to go with someone who can play both games if Sturridge is going to miss them. If Aspas is to start, then Norwich would be one of the softest opponents we can hope to meet for him to hopefully build his confidence going into the Chelsea game.
Another option could be Alberto and Allen coming in, with Coutinho shifted to play wide left, though perhaps with freedom to roam.
Allen is surprisingly good on the ball, I'd love to see him in a more advanced role.
It's the stupidest comparison in the world, but there's times when he pulls a Messi, and dribbles past 2-3 defenders. I do think he's as good as Hendo though for our first team. And I really rate Hendo.

It's a shame for Hendo, Allen has looked bright of late though coming off the bench, he needs to show it consistently now, but yeah, I'd give him the nod.
I wouldn't be adverse to giving Aspas a crack at it though if Sturridge is out, Moses is garbage and the last player I'd want if we have a fight on our hands, not that we've seen enough from Aspas in that respect either.

I'd go Allen for Henderson straight swap, but bear in mind Lucas has been played as an orthodox cm instead of a dm by Rodgers quite a few times now, so Rodgers clearly believes the lad can do it there, & considering he played there when we first signed him it makes sense.

Allen. But then, although I'm not Lucas' biggest fan, he's got the experience to handle the bigger games. Could always play Stevie in a more advanced role and let someone else sit. Hopefully he'll role back the years, although not sure if he's got the legs, but then it's only a few games....
Allen for me, need the mobility and his winning the ball high up the pitch gets the attack started before the opposition defense can get set.
