Where do we go from here?

Would anyone take no europe next year for a proper crack at the league when everything is hopefully back to normal?

I'd consider it if I didnt think it would majorly hamper our recruitment - both from an attractiveness perspective as well as revenue.

We dominated for 75mins and had Mane/Salah been more clinical in the first few minutes, we'd have won this game comfortably.

We've been very profligate in front of goal this season.

Last year, in the first minute Salah is scoring instead of diving. Mane is scoring that header against City. Salah is scoring against Brighton in the opening minutes.

I also can't help but feel we've been "figured out" somewhat. Mane and Salah are our only genuine goal threats. Everyone knows this. Narrow off and close the centre (something Napoli did against us time and again), and our fall back plan is (as described by one of my friends as) "get the ball wide, cross and inshallah". And that's another thing, our crossing isn't what it was either. We're not getting behind teams as easily with Robbo/Trent.

Perhaps a large part of that comes for the lack of protection we're getting in midfield and the lack of confidence in dealing with teams 3 v 3 at the back (as we lack the pace and strength of VVD/Gomez/Fab).

Interesting....I kinda agree with this...

I feel not having our first-choice rock-solid defence means the front three are dropping deeper more than usual and doing much more pressing and defending from deep which in turn they are getting tired more often when they finally get into those key moments to score... I've only played 5 aside and school level but I know form those experiences when you're that little bit more physically tired sometimes it can affect your shooting accuracy (and key moment decision making). Losing VVD/Gomes/Matip hasn't just affected the balance of the midfield, the entire team balance of Klops perfect system is out of whack.

We definitely should have kept Danny Ings, he could have been a natural successor to Firmino, he might lack the finesse of Bobby, but he leads the line well and is scoring for fun. What a missed opportunity.

Mark - although I think Danny Ings is one of the best strikers in the league - I don't think there is any space or room for an out and out striker like him. I actually think (yes controversial) - that if he would have stayed with us he would continue to get injured due to the work-rate expected by Klopp. It's also the reason why I think we were ready to sell on that other kid to Sheff. United at the start of the season. It's just not the way we play and I don't think it would have been any benefit for him to say in this team, he is much better suited to playing in a team that just has a striker like him constantly as the focal point of an attack.

CL footy next season is gonna be a real struggle to secure in all honesty. Chelsea look good and very solid defensively.
We need to go on a winning run, but that looks very difficult to do at this point.

That loss to Leicester is tough to take, even now days later.
