I know it won't change your opinion, but are you anyway concerned(about your own opinion) about the lack of people who are outraged at the suggestion the Agger might leave?
It doesn't change anything. I know there's loads of Liverpool fans outthere who'd be rather sad to see a player of Agger's caliber leave and especially if it's Roy Hodgson beeing the one freezing him out. Even if there wasn't I'd still be saddened to see him go because he doesn't fit into a manager like Roy's negative approach. He's a top class player with potential to be one of the best in my opinion and I'd never like to see those kind of players leave Liverpool.

Bottomline is unless Agger is beyond repair I'd be very sad to see him leave no matter how many posters on here should think of it as a great move by the gaffer.

There's every chance/risk he'd go on elsewhere and become one of the best defenders in the game. Another Alonso-case if you like.
We should spend millions in wages (without a second thought) on a player who

1) never plays
2) gobs off in the press about the style of football he will/wont play?
the more people that gob off against our disgraceful style of football the better.
This may well be tongue in cheek, but it really isnt now is it.... I think our club has been in the press for all the wrong reasons recently to last us about 10 years.
He is being serious.
Then he's being a prick.

We all know Roy is going to get the bullet - the timing will work out i) to fit in with a decent manager actually being available and ii) (hopefully) so that he can leave with some pride (by getting the England job or some-such)

While I dont share KHL's angst in Agger leaving, I would rather we retain him and wait for the new manager to evaluate if he wants Agger or not before we sell him.

yes, he has not lived up to his initial promise and yes, he is injured a lot. However, he is only 26 years old and if he remains injury free for reasonable period of time, he could be a very very useful squad member. Even if he does not live up to his initial promise, he is till a very good premiership defender.

Not bothered. If I could see him staying fit, I might be. But I don't.
^^^^

I'm not sure he's played since the last "he's great / no he isn't thread".

Agger is pointless. Never fit, when he is, he's overrated. I don't mean to say he's no good, coz he is. He just ain't no World beater like some would have you believe. His passing ability is largely a myth, sometimes good, more often average. Defensively OK, good shot on him about every 3 years.

If we'd have taken 15M off Milan all those years ago it would have been well worth it. He'd have played about 5 games for them since.

You'd think we were trying to hold on to Baresi. He's fucking way off.

Trouble with that is that saying "if he remains injury-free for a reasonable period of time" is a bit like saying "if the sea turns to yoghurt".

I don't believe for a second that NESV would sanction a loan move. It doesn't solve anything.
Apart from

- getting him off the wage bill, without having to sell him for a pittance

- getting him some much needed match practice
- getting a dissenting voice out of the changing room

....
You'll have to find a club that will pay his wages in full though. And I don't see that happening. I agree about the other points though, especially the last one.

Yup, I struggle to think of anyone who will pay £70K a week so sit on the sidelines for 50% of the season.

Daniel Agger has been tipped to 'hit the ground running' for Liverpool when he returns from injury.

Roy Hodgson believes that the Denmark international, who has not featured for Liverpool since a 2-2 draw with Sunderland in September, will shelve his latest spell on the sidelines when he is allowed to resume training again by the club's sports science team.

Dr Peter Brukner predicted earlier this week that Agger would be available for first team selection just before Christmas and although the Kop boss has attempted to downplay any talk of a deadline, he has backed the defender to return to form when given the all-clear.

He said: "We can't pinpoint when he'll be able to come back and train.

"But he's certainly more cheerful and doing a lot more than he was two weeks ago.
It's just a question of when he gets the medical all-clear to take part in training again.

"I think when he gets that all-clear he'll be able to hit the ground running because I don't think it's going to be a problem like Steven Gerrard's where there's a definite pull and it's going to take time to put right."

More positive-ish news I reckon.

Has Christmas got the better of Roy here?

Only 26? He's half way through his career and is permanently injured. He's as likely to be injury-free for any period of time as Aurelio and Kewell.

Shut up Roy. Your man management skills are shite, he'll get all excited in the gym now and tear a muscle in his index finger which will send electric like shots down his nerve endings, severing every working limb he has left.

Sack him NOW.

whatever happens with his injuries, surely it's a stupid time to sell him in terms of his value? better to let him get fit and at least try to give him a run after xmas to rebuild his reputation and drum up interest.

or, rather, just fuck off roy.
Just fuck roy off i say

Mods. Any chance we can have one big massive Just Fuck Off Roy thread so we don't have to see the same old shite regurgitated across every fucking thread?

Seriously. It's fucking boring now. Some shite rag makes up a story and Roy's a cunt. Roy pretty much dispels any rumour and we get the same faces still banging on.

if spurs can keep King and Woodgate

if united can keep Brown and more recently Rio

why the fuck would we want to sell Agger? other teams know he's inury prone so the money won't be great and he could come through his injuries like many have in the past.

;D

Serious question, has anyone massively injury prone still by that age (24 maybe?) Ever got over it? Why are people assuming he will?

PFA Player of the month. Blimey.
Eh?

Liam - I'm pissed (hence numerous posts rather than just the one 😉 ) but I think someone bigged him up earlier cos he won player of the month.

Any argument that this recent calf injury is fresh and unrelated and leads to the conclusion that he may somehow overcome his injury problems once and for all, is rather tenuous, in light of his injury record.
