According to Danish newspaper B.T.'s sources in England Roy Hodgson has given numerous English-based journalists the information that Daniel Agger no longer is a part of his future plans with Liverpool FC.

The former Liverpool-player Ronnie Whelan confirms that Daniel Agger's future in Liverpool looks very bleak.

- It doesn't look good for Daniel Agger at all and persoanlly I regret that on behalf of the club. In my eyes he has been and will conitnue to be a very good player for Liverpool FC, when fit of course, as he offers something different when on the ball than any other defender at the club but apparently it's not qualities that Roy Hodgson prefers as much. I feel really sorry for Daniel Agger and real sorry for Liverpool, Ronnie Whelan is quoted saying in an interview in todays paper.

According to B.T.'s informations a loan-deal will be agreed if the club fails to find a buyer in January.

I don't think I can handle more of Roy's strange, amateurish ideas to be honest.

Please resign.

Cheers.

Because of the amount of times he's injured I don't see much of a future for Agger regardless of who the manager is.

Do you think he'll be less broken once we get a new manager?
[/quote]

so there is no possiblity of agger making a full recovery from his injuries?

If Roy is getting rid of him because of his perma-injuries then fair enough. If it is because he doesn't like his style of play then he needs to get a fucking clue.

What's the point, He'd just break them in the process.

Seriously though he is one of my favorite players and I hope he stays.

He will do that I'm positive but whether it'll be enough is a completely different matter.

I know he's useless when injured but he's still young and one can but hope that he one day will get over all these strange injuries of his. I personally believe that it would be a major mistake to freeze him out of the club especially when under the guidance of Roy Hodgson.

Agger has somewhat digged his own hole here hitting out at Roy's tactics early on and we all now - Pacheco does at least - that you do not mess with old Roy. That was his reputation in Copenhagen as it has been everywhere else. The stubborn 'ol git, but it was stupid of Agger to state what he said however obvious it was.

Let's wait to see if HOdgson refuses to play him when that happens first.

Hodgson was slated to high heaven by the Hansenites for some stubborn refusal to play Agger; only to have them shut up once it was clear that he wasnt playing because he was broken again.

It's funny to see the slating start again when he's still broken.

I don't believe that Agger's criticism is the issue. I think it's his neverending injuries.

Agger's been fit this Season too where's he been either benched of played out of position at LB.

No matter what Roy or NESV will come out and say about this should we sell him or loan him out we all know that Agger's comments after the United game is the main reason.

That and perhaps Roy's prefered tactics with very deep defensive lines and loads of long balls.

Either way I know who I'll be hoping to see leave Anfield first of the two.

But for his latest injury, didn't Dr Peter Brukner mention it was an unusual one - kinda freak cos a kick in the international match caused his blood clot? Besides, he's probably played more often at LB under Roy Hodgson due to the injuries/lack of options than at CB. When's his contract ending?

That's bollocks. He wasn't injured at first he was sat on the bench only to be subbed on for Konchesky. He 'broke' during the Internationals.

He did feature in the Northampton shenanigans mind and Roy said himself afterwards it was only the reserves so what did people expect. Or somethings along those lines.

2014. He penned a new contract only last Season I believe it was.

A good number of his appearances have been at LB due to injuries; true.

The fact still remains however that IF it's true that Hodgson's trying to get rid of him, it's more likely due to his horrific injury record as opposed to any comments he might have made about Hodgson.

whatever happens with his injuries, surely it's a stupid time to sell him in terms of his value? better to let him get fit and at least try to give him a run after xmas to rebuild his reputation and drum up interest.

or, rather, just fuck off roy.

I don't think so Avvy but on the other hand I don't know so, so I'll leave it there.

Yes, but if he regains his fitness then the need to sell him disappears somewhat!

If you have a good player who is injured to the point of being completely unreliable and therefore a liability then the choice is either to hang on and hope his fitness improves, or to cut your losses. I can see an argument for both options.

Is Agger really THAT good that he is worth keeping (no doubt on big wages) in the hope that one day he might become a top player for us?

I'm no Hodgson fan and hope he's replaced ASAP.

But it's a bit unfair to slate him for something which an ex-player is saying Hodgson is trying to do.

He's already saying loads of stupid things all by himself anyway.

I'm guessing their relationship didn't actually get better with Agger had been injured for 2 weeks and then jetted of to Denmark to play in said international were he got injured.

That wasn't the best move by young Daniel-san.

Anyhoo, I've been advocating selling one of Skrtel and Agger along with Soto. So that we would have new cb, Agger/Skrtel, Carra and Wilson.

With his recent injury record Agger should be sold imho, to much money wasted on wages and little is offered from the treatment table. If he stayed injury free though I'd keep him.

Roy has unformally told journalists that Agger no longer is needed and that he will be sold/loaned out. That's not Whelans words but B.T.'s according to their sources whomever they may be.

In that case, I hope its not those statistics about wage + mins on pitch etc. that is clouding vision/affecting decisions. I guess the fact that we've been linked with defenders of various stature like Shawcross, Cahill, Wheater and most recently Rami might be a sign of someone in the ranks being on the verge of leaving. On a sidenote, might be a long term replacement for the Greek though.

ha, well obviously that's a bit of a problem. i thought my meaning was clear though, viz that it's stupid to sell someone when their value's at rock bottom: if long-term you don't fancy him/trust hm to stay fit then fine, but in the short-term at least try to convince potential buyers that he's a better buy than being frozen out or injured for 6 months implies - which agger imo is.

Well, no one's going to buy him when he's broken anyway.

Hopefully he recovers soon and we'll see if the old man plays him.

how about this; he recovers and when has recovered the old man is gone.*

of course that could be 2015 😉

I don't believe for a second that NESV would sanction a loan move. It doesn't solve anything.

It gets him off the wage bill.

Peter has a point re his value being at its lowest now, but depending on how you value him it might be better to get rid in january and save a couple of million in wages between now and the summer.

Even if fit and playing well I don't see too many teams being interested.

Apart from

- getting him off the wage bill, without having to sell him for a pittance

- getting him some much needed match practice

- getting a dissenting voice out of the changing room

....

Me neither.

Only the ones who could afford him like say Real, Barca, Inter, Citeh, United, Arsenal, AC Milan and Chelsea.
