I know most of you lot hate it, but i'm picking the transfer window.

If we spend our money well we could be back amongst the title contenders for next season.

I'm going to go with Martin Kelly, not because I believe he's brilliant, but because of his attitude. Most of the examples of exemplary attitude this year in our team -- and there aren't that many of them -- come from players in their 30s like Bellamy. We've just heard Henderson say, well, I have played within myself this year. Thanks Jordan, one would think you'd be motivated by the fact that Liverpool are bleeding out in front of our eyes, but no, it's not enough to awake his competitive spirit.

If I'm watching a young player who is trying to make it, sure, I'd love to be stunned by ability beyond his years, but in Martin Kelly's case what I see is someone with some ability, and a great engine, who at times could be faulted for being overeager. He wants to be involved, and he'll expend every last bit of energy he has doing the best possible job he can for the entire match. He has nowhere near the technical ability of Enrique but offers more of a threat down the right just by tackling his way down the wing, and just wanting it more. I love his attitude. I don't think he'll even necessarily make it as he's got a good amount of work to do to work on his defending, but unlike other players, I'm confident we won't be wondering, well, he could be better than he is, if he only maximized his potential.

I popped in to say something similar, although I think he's guaranteed to have a good career with us.

A new season always comes with hope until our gaffer says the season is a marathon you realize the title race is over.

I love the transfer window.
When our new lads are holding up shirts and scarves all smiles. That medical chair with the electrodes and the big gopping thumbs up to the camera.
Its when they start playing football it all goes to shit.

I'm the same.

For me, it's the transfer window which is like crack cocaine and breaks my heart every year. More importantly, this will be the year we rid ourselves of the dross that's accumulated over several management stints and we finally start build from the foundation instead of signing the Paul Konchesky's of the football world.

For me it's the structure of the club is right and I think it will serve us well in future. That said I'm not so sure we have the right people in key positions.

That one day again soon we might be one of the best teams in the world and not the 9th best team in England.

the youth setup, by a distance. i'm sceptical in general about Comolli, but he seemed to have a knack at Spurs of persuading well-known young players to sign ahead of a lot of competing clubs, which is surely the most important element given that it's pretty rare only one club is going to spot the best talent. we've already signed a few such players recently, and it seems to be carrying on, and i'm well happy with that because it has to be our best chance of competing for the title in the medium term.

for me it's the defense. when the first choice are fit (johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique) they make a very effective back line that has pace, strength, ability on the ball and hold a high line. unfortunately two of those four are injury prone.

If I'm allowed another it would be coates who looks like he has a lot of ability.

Have to agree with that. A season ago I'd be worried about replacing Carragher, Aggers fitness and Skrtels reliability, I think all three of those concerns have faded away. Also we're well stocked with fullback options, which is great.

But Agger is currently injured.

I don't know if it's the same injury but didn't he break a rib from slipping in the 4-0 loss to Spurs too?

It doesn't matter if it is a specific recurring injury or not with Agger. Even if he never breaks another rib again something else will happen.

He is one big recurring injury himself

Transfer window for me too.

Always brings the hope that we will sign some exciting players.

Yes, but he's such a classy player when he does get fit, he deserves all the patience in the world as far as I'm concerned.

Agger would be the first name on the team sheet for me every week when fit.

This thread title annoys me every time I clap eyes on it. Neil you are a lazy fucker.
