with regards to the current plight of liverpool. what is the thing that makes you optimistic about our future? the summer? the transfer window? a player? a reserve? blind faith? the belief we'd be hard pressed to be so rubbish next season?

I can't wait to see Lucas fit again.
I'm dreading the transfer window though.

I'm pleased that we have a few players that have come through the ranks for the first time in a while, though none of them are probably of the standard of Owen, Fowler, Macca and Gerrard, it's nice to have a few emerging youngsters. What would be even more pleasant would be them getting a bit more of a chance, at the expense of a few of our overpaid big signings.

I've been impressed with Kelly, Spearing, Flannagan (I still don't get the stick he got in some quarters for the Newcastle game), Robinson and of course, RAHEEEEEEEEEEEM!

i just quite understand this overwhelming liking of shelvey. i think he's very average, and seriously question whether he'll make it at anfield. at best i believe he's a mid prem/championship team level.

We've improved our overseas scouting system and we've improved the links between youth, reserve and first team, and we have a manager who is as committed as any fan. That's three, but that's that.

I'm going to go with Martin Kelly, not because I believe he's brilliant, but because of his attitude. Most of the examples of exemplary attitude this year in our team -- and there aren't that many of them -- come from players in their 30s like Bellamy. We've just heard Henderson say, well, I have played within myself this year. Thanks Jordan, one would think you'd be motivated by the fact that Liverpool are bleeding out in front of our eyes, but no, it's not enough to awake his competitive spirit.

If I'm watching a young player who is trying to make it, sure, I'd love to be stunned by ability beyond his years, but in Martin Kelly's case what I see is someone with some ability, and a great engine, who at times could be faulted for being overeager. He wants to be involved, and he'll expend every last bit of energy he has doing the best possible job he can for the entire match. He has nowhere near the technical ability of Enrique but offers more of a threat down the right just by tackling his way down the wing, and just wanting it more. I love his attitude. I don't think he'll even necessarily make it as he's got a good amount of work to do to work on his defending, but unlike other players, I'm confident we won't be wondering, well, he could be better than he is, if he only maximized his potential.

Must be an amazing feeling being so completely wrong.

Sure, I've been wrong before... But not to that level

yep, i'm rolling around on the floor at being completely wrong right ;-) in the games i've seen him play (yes albeit very limited at liverpool), he has simply not impressed me. as i've mentioned, maybe with greater experience with 1st team games my opinion may change, but at this moment in time, i'll stick

As Macca said the overseas scouting system, that is bound to give us something in return in the next transfer windows.

The youth set up is excellent and there are some really exciting prospects coming through the ranks.

First team: Suarez, Coates, Kelly, Bellamy and Enrique are the few positives I see at the moment.

How dare you block out someone's ray of sunshine.

for me it's the defense. when the first choice are fit (johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique) they make a very effective back line that has pace, strength, ability on the ball and hold a high line. unfortunately two of those four are injury prone.

If I'm allowed another it would be coates who looks like he has a lot of ability.

It's a good shout that actually, at their best this season they were pretty formidable, it's a shame not scoring inevitably saw mistakes creep into our defensive game.

it happened in gh's time as well. doesn't matter how solid your defence if you arent scoring (over a long period of time) mental fatigue will creep in at the back and you will start to conceed.
