Exactly. By selling him, we could have insisted on a buy-back option, like we did with inserting a sell-on fee. Ayre must have been dreaming of a new cravat or something.
He seems to be worth 6-8M in the current market and that's on the back of him playing consistently and improving over the last 18 months or so. Had he have signed a contract at Liverpool he wouldn't have played as often, wouldn't have improved as much and wouldn't be worth what he is today.
With that in mind I don't think there is that much to be upset about. We got the sell on clause, which at the very least guarantees a return on investment given how things have turned out. That's a success for the youth system.

We should have, but we probably didn't think he'd develop as well as he has.

Ince Jr thrived at Notts county while his dad was there so I think it'll be good for him.

I'm very meh about Ince replacing Downing. We can surely do better than Ince as first choice right winger.
