The summer clear out continues...

Liverpool set to spurn West Bromwich Albion's loan bid and sell David Ngog to PSV Eindhoven - report
19 Jul 2010 17:27:00

Liverpool are set to ignore West Bromwich Albion's loan bid for David Ngog and sanction his £3 million sale to PSV Eindhoven, according to The People.

Ngog, 21, has been chased by the Midlanders all summer after Roy Hodgson reportedly prepared to ship the France youth international out of Anfield. A temporary move was supposed to be on the cards after manager Roberto Di Matteo made his interest public.

The newly promoted side are set for disappointment, however, as the Eredivisie club muscle in with a permanent offer.

Ngog would become part of a new look strikeforce - including Jonathan Reis, Jeremain Lens and the incoming Marcus Berg - who are to be tasked with firing Fred Rutten's side past Ajax and FC Twente and back to the top of the Eredivisie.

That seems quite low as well.

Cue loads of angry "he's shit!" posts.

If we sell him for that, I'd hope for a hefty sell-on clause being part of the deal.

Hmm, okay talent vise but every time I saw him play he looked like he missed something.

Would have kept him for one more season though.

I'd have preferred 5m+ for a young striker who did well enough in his first season in the premiership. I still find it difficult to forget being so impressed by him for the U21's against England a couple of years back.

Wow, I'd hold on to him if we are going to get peanuts for him.

He's got the raw materials to be successful, and he showed willing. I think he deserves more time.

He certainly knew where the back of the net is, which is an instinct that cant be taught. His goals to games ratio will be up there with most in the league. I would rather keep hold as a 4th choice, failing that Keni is right with the sell on clauses.

I've never been impressed. He's a panicker - he goes headless whenever he's in a dangerous position and an opportunity presents itself. The goals he's scored all seem to be scuffed, off his arse or a header where he had no idea where it was going - one or two aside.

We need better to support Torres and if we're in for Remy (and if not then it WILL be someone else) then we don't need Wash. 3M is the minimum though - but only with a nice % of any sell-on as someone mentioned already.

I like him.

He can finish which sadly many strikers don't seem to be able to do.. (a la Djibril)

6mill would be too good to turn down, not 3

I think he's rubbish. If he's being farmed out to give Amoo, Ecclestone, Nemeth, Dalle Vale or Pacheco a whizz I'm all for it.
We've got Torres, Jovanovic, Kuyt now so I'd be happy to see the kids as 4th choice.

I'm happy with anything around 4 million. I've never rated him and I don't think he'll ever be anything special.

A quick look on YouTube will disprove that. The guy is a decent finisher... it's the other parts of his game that are raw.

Can I just say I must be a rube, because I'm enjoying thinking about this new season again, without the slightest logical basis for it?

This is what we are supposed to be talking about.

Person 1) I think he's raw but has the potential to develop
Person 2) He's just shit.

This is what silly season is supposed to be about.

I liked him when he was younger, but he just hasnt made that step up, as an under-19 he was quality.

At Liverpool he just isnt good enough, that said, 3m does seem low it today's market.

Ngog is a decent striker and done a job for us. He's a lot better than people give him credit for. Roy would do well to give him another season but doesn't have the luxury of time.

He came in to do a job and is getting off to a cracking start by clearing out players deemed surplus. Sell them and re-invest in better quality players to strengthen the squad.

As a percentage of the chances he gets ... yes he obviously does (but then they aren't on YouTube so you must have missed them).

I agree, but when you're working within a budget, bringing players in and selling them at profit is not a bad thing. Of course LFC should not have to worry about this, but we are where we are.
