Was It A Mistake To Let Martin Kelly Go?

Seems to be doing alright for Crystal Palace. Scored the winner if the result stays the same.
Could have been an option for RB and CB.

Is he playing CB yet? I know it's where everyone seemed to expect him to end up. He was usually injured for us.

He was a decent young player who certainly had potential. Now we've got Clyne and have Flanigan as back up it's difficult to call it a mistake, but yeah, I was surprised at the time when we sold him.

Kelly looked crocked. He had a really brief period, before the injuries started, when he seemed like a good attacking full back option, but, no, Flanno is a better prospect.

It looks a mistake only since we had to bring in Steven fucking Caulker on loan. I don't overly follow Palace but I haven't been reading reports of him tearing it up for them.

I think injuries screwed his career over. Looked really promising in the reserves and I thought he'd go all the way.

He should have been given some more time to get back to full fitness, but I guess there were offers and it was too tempting to decline.

To be fair, when he came back he looked quite alarmingly crap. I say that as someone who thought he would do well for us.

Always thought Kelly was a strange one.

Capable of looking a really good player with his strong running and surprising quality on the ball for quite an awkward, gangly physique. At times he didn't use that physique though and didn't always look up for the battle. Maybe that's harsh, I don't know.
Nice to see him score today mind, wish him well.

I have no idea how he is coming on....but its a bit odd to bring this up after he scores....considering thats not his main job....but then again it is Modo we are talking about here.

This. There are plenty of players that take a while to get back to form after an injury, but Martin looked like he'd had his place taken by his very, very shit twin (as in, never played professional football before).

It was as close as i've seen to a Liverpool sub getting subbed for shitness, save only for the fact that he came on so late in the game. 20mins or so earlier and he'd have been getting hauled straight back off again.
