Virgil & Joe

I don't know, but I'd expect a player described as a "huge aerial threat" to score more than one.

unless of course, the person describing him as a "huge aerial threat" was a fucking mong

If he said strong in the air defensively then that would be understandable, even if he has a 50 pence head.

Why do you have to take every word so literal manwithnoweener

He's a 6 foot 5 gigantic lanky fuck of course he's going to have a superior aeriel presence.

Why does he hardly ever score then, nerms?

I go back to my previous question, how many goals (other than Virg as he's not human) are CB's supposed to get every season?

How many does say Maguire or Mina or Alderweireld or Stones get?

Also why does being an aerial threat only relate to how many goals someone scores, he's a CB not a forward so surely his percentage won aerially counts too which
I believe is at about 93%

He actually had a decent scoring record for Shalke if I remember right, and these were all predominantly set-piece headers.

Edit: just checked, yeah, 23 goals in 258 games, with 5 goals one season. That's a fine scoring record for a CB.

Even if Matip doesn't score that many goals, he's a nother big man in the box. Another big man the opponents have to mark. If it's only Virgil yeah put Maguire on him, but if it's Matip and Virgil then you've got a problem cause Lindelöf can't jump.
And if it's Matip, Virgil and Fabinho then you're just shit out of luck. (Just using Man U as an example)

Virgil & Joe look the perfect partnership to me. It has longevity too. As Virgil gets older and slower, Joe will be able to cover him more, we forget he’s just 23?
Potentially, they could become the best partnership the leagues ever seen.

If the likelihood was that Virgil's CB partner was going to have a physical battle on his hands I'd stick Matip in there. Otherwise Gomez gets the nod IMHO.

But, as others have said, what a "problem" to have.

Because the word threat is linked with scoring goals not heading the ball away.

When we have a corner against Man U you don’t hear the commentator saying, Maguire is a threat here.

He scored 2 in 10 games this season. Although one of them was in the Community Shield.
