Trent, Salah and VVD

I hope Mo and Virg are asking for 10k more with every passing week, well within their right to, purely for us acting like a bunch of inept clowns. Wouldn't begrudge any of them if they left, even if they went to Saudi for a pay packet. Fuck it, I wouldn't even begrudge them if they went to Utd or City.

Even Han Solo knew it wasn’t “just about the money”.

And you absolutely would begrudge them if they went to City or Utd - because they’d be doing it out of spite and for money - in wish case we’d be better off without.

Not that either of them are like that or that “every week you don’t offer me a contract the wage is going up” is going to be an actual negotiation tactic - you’ve been watching too many shit movies.

I don't care what their reasoning is. They wanted to stay, we had the chance to extend and we acted like the arrogant arseholes we are. These are the last years left on their careers, they should absolutely look to maximise.

You cannot continue to defend the indefensible. Our authorative figures are not fit to run this club.

I'd imagine we'll probably try to get everything sorted before Jan, as then we're in pre-contract territory. Hopefully some will be done by then

It’s not the indefensible - you’re talking like they’ve already left - they haven’t.

It doesn’t matter if the contract is signed now, last week or at 2 minutes to midnight on the 30th June 2025.
Negotiations are ongoing and not at a conclusion - waiting till the last minute is a very common and regularly applied tactic in negotiations, from both sides.

It really unsettles impatient people.

You know what one of the hardest things to do in negotiations is - keeping your mouth shut and saying nothing - and there’s a reason you do it.

I thought that was when she's on her back?

Do I have to remind everyone on here that his agent Rami Abbas is a grade A cu*t?
Is he? He says a lot on social media but 8yrs on Salah is still here so must be doing OK relationship wise. An agent wanting the best for his client is natural

I understand how good he has been in big moments this season, but he's going to be 33 at the start of next season, and every game he becomes more of an impact player.

I hope the club offers him a 1 year contract extension with the option of 2 (on the club's side). Same offer to Virgil.
I think with all this talk of age and age, Salah is likely to be the exception. I get the whole point but it's really something inevitable but also something we are waiting to be proven related to impact. His contribution current levels should be a major factor.
I doubt Salah would sign a 1yr extension, he would want I assume minimum of 2yrs and I'm sure he will get that elsewhere even at 33. His level of fitness and commitment is insane. Over the 2 week int break, Salah I think rested and trained at Liverpool, Rashford and few others went to US on holiday. He would see it as an insult to only get 1yr especially on current form. It's obvious he wants to stay, hopefully we can make it happen ASAP.

Who expected Fabinho to go from world class to average after one summer?

We dont know if Salah can keep this going. Last season he was injured in the AFCON and wasn't the same for the rest of the season.

So the responsible adults in the matter ( Hughes, Edwards etc) are being careful and I understand their reasoning.

It doesn't always take a season. But a few season later we had Salah and Mane and we didn't look back.
Before Suarez there was Torres, before Fowler and Owen there was Rush.
Not saying it's not possible but it's a dangerous assumption it's a given. It's not and in both of your examples, Rush and Torres were already on the way down and not performing as we needed whether due to age or injury, that isn't the case here. If there is a deal and intention is there, we should do all we can and not just hope for the best.

Am I the only one that thinks that Mo is being a bit of a cunt here and I say that as someone who really hopes he stays.
His comments are clearly made with the intension of putting pressure on the club
It is ludicrous to try and have us believe that there aren't contract extension talk.
All he had to say was that he wants to stay and hopes an agreement can be reached but it is out of his hands.
I hope his performance doesn't drop off once/if he signs an extension as his goals and assists are vital to a title challenge
I reckon he's in hot form and trying to put pressure to close the deal before he starts a barren spell

This probably isn't significant. Tom Werner doesn't get involved in nitty gritty stuff. He's over in London quite a lot and tries to take a game in if he can.
It's normal that Hogan and Hughes might be at the game.

Hughes is one thing, but I wouldn't expect Hogan to be at an away game in the PL.
