Transfer Rumours

Rumours over here are that Sevilla want Dusan Tadic (not the war criminal) to replace Rakitic. I like Tadic myself. Good player. Loads of goals and assists. He is supposed to be around 10m euro and we should be having a look ourselves at that price.

Also Swansea are in for Luc Castaignos who is somehow still only 21. He is no Bony but he could well be his replacement.

Carlos Vela will return to Arsenal next season, the president of the forward's current club, Real Sociedad, said on Tuesday.

The Gunners can activate a clause in the former Mexican international's contract to bring him back to the Emirates, and Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay confirmed the move, telling Spanish radio station Cadena SER: "Arsenal have informed us that Vela would be with them next season."

Vela, 25, previously played for Arsenal from 2008-2010. He initially joined Sociedad on loan before securing a permanent deal two years ago.

He excelled this season, scoring 16 goals in 34 games, prompting Arsenal to call him back for a reported 3.5 million pounds.

Vela was not selected to join Mexico's World Cup squad after repeatedly declining call-ups during qualifying.

Wait, the Sociedad president name is only JOKIN'!

I can't take it seriously if it was said while Jokin' was around!

Why are those Serbia players always going to play for Dutch teams near the Hague?

We've been linked with Luc Castaignos in other transfer windows.

I like that Depay lad from PSV. He could turn out to be the dogs bollocs!

Former England left-back Chris Powell says Ashley Cole will remain in the Premier League, and he thinks both Manchester City and Liverpool could be interested in signing him.

A couple of Stoke City signings that had been widely expected have been confirmed as Mame Biram Diouf and Dionatan Teixeira both sign.

Liverpool to lodge £8million transfer offer for Schalke teen Max Meyer

Liverpool are set to lodge a £8million bid for exciting Schalke play-maker Max Meyer.

Reds scouts have been following the 18-year-old closely in the last few months, and reports in Germany suggest a deal is now firmly on the cards.

It’s thought that Brendan Rodgers will make an £8million offer before the weekend, with the club hopeful it will be enough to do business.

The fee will all be up front but Schalke will get a percentage of any sell-on fee plus lucrative bonus payments if Meyer helps Liverpool win trophies.

Chelsea were previously interested in him but he snubbed a transfer to Stamford Bridge last January, fearing his chances of first-team football would be slim.

Liverpool will have to reassure him of game time in order to wrap up the move, but having impressed in the Bundesliga last term, Rodgers is convinced of his ability.

Meyer scored seven goals in 41 matches last term and bagged a number of assists.

wow, sounds really interesting. isn't this kid supposed to be an amazing prospect? 8m is no small sum, but we could be on to a bargain here.

Why the fuck would they want to sell him? One of the most highly rated young players in German football?

We werent that stupid.
I mean sure anything is possible but getting that kid for £8 million is daylight robbery.
I'd tend to agree, but questioning a club's motives for selling is flawed. I'd rather worry about our own motives and scouts, not everybody else's.

[article]In an interview with radio station talkSPORT, Benitez confirmed that Reina will return to Anfield.

“Pepe has two years left on his contract at Liverpool,” he said. “He has to go back and he’ll stay there. We can’t afford Pepe’s wages.

“The Premier League is a very big league and, in Serie A, we don’t pay big wages like in England. He will have to fight for his position at Liverpool.”[/article]

Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has ruled out signing Pepe Reina on a permanent deal from Liverpool due to his wage demands.

The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at the Serie A side, making 40 appearances in all competitions, as Simon Mignolet became Brendan Rodgers’ first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield following his summer switch from Sunderland.
Reina, who is currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup, has previously stated he would be happy to stay at Napoli but it now appears he will have to consider his options elsewhere.

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have been among the other clubs reported to be keen on his services after Benitez confirmed he would be leaving the Stadio San Paolo.

Asked if Reina’s future belongs in England, Benitez told talkSPORT: "Yes. Pepe has two years left on his contract at Liverpool.

"He has to go back and he’ll stay there. We can’t afford Pepe’s wages.
