Wong player from Marseille, we should be after Valbuenna. Very similar in stature and nature to Shaqiri but won't cost as much, ok he's older at 29 but we'd still get at least 3 or 4 good seasons out of him whilst being able to blood In the likes of Ibe

Not necessarily. I'd have thought he had a more than decent chance of displacing Szczesny.

I doubt it, Szczesny is the least useless goalkeeper Wenger has ever bought and still quite young. I think the fans rate him quite highly as well.

Carlos Vela will return to Arsenal next season, the president of the forward's current club, Real Sociedad, said on Tuesday.

The Gunners can activate a clause in the former Mexican international's contract to bring him back to the Emirates, and Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay confirmed the move, telling Spanish radio station Cadena SER: "Arsenal have informed us that Vela would be with them next season."

Vela, 25, previously played for Arsenal from 2008-2010. He initially joined Sociedad on loan before securing a permanent deal two years ago.

He excelled this season, scoring 16 goals in 34 games, prompting Arsenal to call him back for a reported 3.5 million pounds.

Vela was not selected to join Mexico's World Cup squad after repeatedly declining call-ups during qualifying.

160k p.w. Insane. United have made a rod for their own back with Rooney's salary and it's going to bite them hard from now on.

Southampton and England national team player Luke Shaw is once again on the radar for a move to Manchester United and this time it may be a done deal. Multiple outlets are reporting that Shaw has agreed in principle to a 160,000-pounds-a-week deal at Old Trafford after United lodged a 27-million-pound offer for the Saints' defender.

Chelsea had made some advances but Jose Mourinho was reportedly scared off by the price tag. The entire deal -- which includes a five-year-contract for Shaw -- could set United back close to 40 million pounds.

They'd have had to pay inflated salaries anyway given their absence from the CL, but yes, the Rooney thing should give that an extra kick upwards.

Lovely biscuits.

Problem is - they can afford to do it.

I remember those years back when exactly the same happened with Keane. He demanded 40k a week, which was ridiculous considering the other top players were on about 20k, and he got it, and everyone predicted the beginning of the end for utd. It wasn't really the end for them, but the wages in the league overall spiralled out of control.

They bumped him up to 125k from the 50k he was earning at Everton apparantly.

They've got some shocking wages with Young on 100k, Rooney on 300k

did you say 125,000? for Fellaini?
That is crazy. If they buy Fabregas, Pogba or Kroos they'll have to pay them all 300k ...

On the face of it, yes, but rich as they are, they're also debt-ridden, and it remains to be seen what difference the fact that old man Glazer has turned his toes up will make to the attitude they take to such things. It'll be a humungous amount for them to risk in a time of transition, especially as no-one knows when it'll actually pay off.
