Transfer Rumours 21/22

TBF being that colour you're going to get cancelled at some point and get a hosting gig on GB News

I'm a nice browny olive colour. I can play both sides. I'll only get cancelled once they've ran out of 100% whiteys to tar and feather.

Surely Klopp struggled to give Origi game time last season because he's shite and can't be relied upon to show some fucking effort rather than anything else.

Barcelona and Real Madrid use the spanish press to unsettle players ahead of a transfer bid and we use the Echo and various other journalists every season to claim Liverpool will spend big this summer only for that to be changed to injured players will give us a boost (like a new signing and all that old bollocks) and then finally it's claimed that Klopp is very happy with us selling players but not buying any new ones as the squad was already way too big.
He's delighted to have the same squad players who contribute fuck all and he only plays in the domestic cups or brings on as a sub in the 88th minute.

Then in November or December when we're hit with the inevitable list of injuries Klopp bemoans the amount of fixtures we have to play, ignoring the fact that he either wanted a small squad or accepted a small squad because of financial constraints. If he leaves when his current contract is up then we'll really see how poorly funded our squad is as it's unlikely any new manager will be able to work similar miracles with limited funds like Klopp has done.

FSG are clowns if they don't release some dosh for signings. After the shitshow a couple of months ago they should be trying their best to win some favour back, let alone realise how close we came to not being in the champion's league. A defender and a versatile midfielder are a must.

Are FSG taking their bat and ball home now that the ESL has been fucked off and FFP has failed?

I know early days, pandemic, constrained finances, difficult situation yada yada yada but if that Echo article is in any way true, I can't think of any better explanations.

Klopp will want his sabatical in 3 yrs, just would be nice for FSG to support with a bit more money on the transfer front before he jets off in the sunset.
Would be a bit of a regret to have once in a gen manager like Klopp and not give it a bloody good go over the reminder of his contract rather having him just manage with the current squad but there’s still plent of time left in transfer window.

And I was hoping sealing CL qualification would help on the transfer front - only for the likes of Villa and Leicester to continue strengthening instead.

Its a miracle that we're in the mix at all at the top of the table. We've never been big (net) spenders in all the years I've followed the club. Except for one or two isolated windows such as Kenny's splurge in 2011.

@JamesPearceLFC

Klopp is an admirer of McGinn but with Villa wanting £50 million for the Scotland international any deal currently looking unrealistic this summer. #LFC

From Gini to McGinn would be a pretty big downgrade imo.

Hopefully Villa stick with their 50m valuation.

From Gini to McGinn would be a travesty, considering that we also let the mf go for free as well.
And now we have to fucking sell Neco and Philips to "raise funds".

McGinn is a good player - he may not be as technically sound as Gini, but he's a tough, aggressive midfielder.
Is he at GIni's class? No.
But can he get close to it? Dunno, but would you have said we'd have a 'world class LB' after we got some random Scottish LB who could barely hack it at Hull?
Not worth 50 million mind you.

Left back requires less technical excellence than centre midfield though.

McGinn is a good player, I agree; Aston Villa is about his level.

We fought so hard to get into the CL so we could (hopefully) afford a player a class above. At least in the same class as Gini.

Robertson was about 23 when he joined whereas McGinn will be 27 in October.

And generally these kind of moves fail more times than they succeed.

Seems like we're okay selling Phillps if we get 15 mill £ for him. Some turnaround given he was about to move for 2 mill £ a year ago.

If we have that type of money to spend on a midfielder, surely Bissouma or Neuhaus would be much better.

Sadly I think they will not release any more money, I expect any incoming players will be funded from sales. That's been the model they've used for the last 2 years, the club spends about £30m-£40m and any other funds have to be recouped by selling. Weve already spent £30m or so on Konate, so there's no indication that it's changed much as it appears we won't sign anybody else before selling.

Not so strange if the owners take the sell-to-buy approach. We have quite a few who we don't use a lot, even as squaddies. They need shifting.

Glad he's not joining Chelsea. Huge upgrade for PSG from their RBs choices in recent season's - Meunier, Florenzi, Dagba.
