Transfer Rumours 21/22

Not sure why Coutinho would be a bad example of why you don't leave. He's played a relatively stop start role at Barca, was repeatedly criticised by the fans, shipped out to Bayern and has had a series of fairly lengthy injuries. He'd have been much more adored here and he'd have had an attack he could have flourished with. He won La Liga playing a significant part, but it didn't make them love him, it's a completely different mentality to what he'd have continued to be treated to here.

I think this is more or less my point, perhaps better articulated.

If I'm a player at a big club like Liverpool, with a very settled place in the side, the fans love me and things are generally going well for me, there's no way you'd see me risk it all for Barca or Real. How you're remembered as a player, for me, is more important than a couple of winners medals.

[article]Liverpool are reported to have opened talks over a deal to sign Holland striker Donyell Malen from PSV Eindhoven.

The 22-year-old former Arsenal man has gone from strength to strength since moving to Holland in 2017. Indeed, in the season just finished, Malen scored 19 goals and assisted eight more in 32 appearances for PSV.

However, he’s on the market this summer with Eindhoven willing to sell for around €30m (£26m).

That fee has alerted Liverpool with Max Bielefeld of Sky Deutcshe reporting that the Reds have opened talks over a deal.

Bielefeld claims the Reds are looking to Malen as an insurance policy should Mohamed Salah be sold.

However, regardless of the Egyptian’s future, the Reds are keen to add Malen into the mix in a bid to freshen up their side.

Dutch outlet Voetbal International have also confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Malen.[/article]

How about doubling or tripling your bank account? In the long run that is way more important to a player and his family and future generations.

Sir Kenny Daglish ..............

Vastly more talented in a vastly more talented side, winning everything in the world with us, multiple times. Add in progressing from player to manager with us.

Gini, at 30, as a decent to good player in this side, would get nowhere near legendary status

Not that I give too hairy fucks... but... why on earth would Utd be trying to sign Trippier for £30m+

All for it, especially if Atlético give it all to us in exchange for Kieta.

Villa bid £25m bid for Emile Smith Rowe, Arsenal bid £40m for Ben White. Neither of these clubs are in CL.

[article]Over the years, we’ve become accustomed to the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United signing talents from Ajax.

The Dutch side are a bonafide talent factory, and the Premier League love to take them away for big sums when they get the chance.

We’ve seen it numerous times over the years, particularly with Manchester United, who spent big to get Donny van Beek from the club last summer.

The talent at the club extends beyond the pitch, too, with the likes of Marc Overmars and Edwin van der Saar both linked with former clubs Arsenal and Manchester United in recent years.

And it seems there is a new name to add to that list, Menno Geelen. He’s the current commercial director at Ajax, having risen from an account manager in the sponsorship department to Head of Sponsorship in recent years.

Like Overmars and Van der Saar, he’s highly rated, having been voted ‘sponsor personality’ of the year in 2017 and named among the ‘most talented sales professionals’ by Leaders in Sport in 2017.

That has apparently earned him admirers in the Premier League, with Liverpool and their rivals all keen on him, according to sports marketer Chris Woerts.

“Menno is one of the most talented commercial directors in the Netherlands,” he told De Oranjezomer, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

“He is now in demand by Super League clubs, especially the English clubs.

“Also because he is a good connector. He has done a lot commercially but also provides a platform for the fans. That is now recognised in England.

“Overmars and Van der Sar are often mentioned, but a number of headhunters have approached him.

“Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal could be possible. He’s a great talent that is being attracted.

“He did not want to say anything about it and says he is concentrating on Ajax. But headhunters are now looking to see if he wants to make a switch.

“He’s only 39, so I don’t know if he wants it now. But it’s a nice reward if he makes the switch to the Premier League.”[/article]

No... but on a free he’s worth signing on a pay as you play deal then kicking the living fuck out of every day so as he can’t walk.
Or, to save the danger of our players getting injured while kicking him, play him in the Liverpool Senior Cup against the blueshite

I’m thinking more like half time entertainment- where he gets wheeled out in a wheelbarrow and dumped in a heap in the centre circle - then members from the crowd are invited on to the pitch, like a mascot and encouraged to set about him with a baseball bat - but any big stick will do.

Maybe get some encouragement from the crowd - bit of fan interaction...

Then scoop him up and fling him in a small cell next to the dressing room, to be brought out every home game.

Might even include it on the Anfield tour - you can go and kick him in the nuts before they take you to see the dugouts.

Happy for Salah to have first dibs with the baseball bat.

Isak looks a decent player, he had a break out season last year after bouncing around a bit. 17 goals in 30 odd games is very impressive for a 21 year old. Hes deceptive in that he looks like the sort of player that should be a big aerial target that holds the ball up and attacks crosses. Instead he plays more as a creative dribbler that likes to take on his opponents and beat them with skill, he actually gets very few headers for a 6'3 centre forward.

He could be a very good player in a year or two as he's clearly getting better. That said nobody is going to pay £60m for him right now, that's just nonsense. I'd say £30m - £40m is far more likely.

Owen arguably (there was always something a bit "stainless steel" about him but he had the quality). McManaman I very much doubt - again a very good player at his best but he was far short of his best for at least a season before he actually left, and I don't think the fans would have put up with that had he stuck around.

In fairness the media witch hunt, Ged booting out most of teammates and his injuries led to the dip. If he stayed and was committed he’d have remained one of best players and be a club legend.

And if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle. A lot of those players went because of their attitude and McManaman was the ringleader of all that. It was because he stopped being committed in the first place, not because of lack of ability, that the board tried to sell him. The fact that he had the unbelievable brass neck to get the hump over that just underlines the fact - and it IS a fact - that the conditions for him to become a legend would never, ever have come about.
