Transfer Rumours 21/22

Are we trying to buy the whole of Portugal?

We are trying to be SuperWolves.

Can see why we are interested and since we have bought one from Porto and Benfica, Sporting is the next local step.

Reminds of Diaz, if Diaz played midfield, combined with Thiago’s shoulder drop turns.

These Portuguese players (and those that play in Portugal) sure have silky technical skills, which we see in City’s players too.

Not worth it. I would rather give Neco more games or accelerate Bradley’s development than pay that for a kid who has only played one season in Scotland.

I reckon this is bullshit posturing - the demands to increase to £8m will be the add ons.

Aberdeen’s record transfer is something like £3m rising to £6m - I don’t think they’re going to turn down an offer - just has to be structured right.

Probs getting over-excited and hoping they can stimulate a bidding war.

Speaking of Wolves - it’s gone a bit quiet on Neves being sold.

It's called the Thiago Shuffle™.

Frankly, better than Didi's Crumple™.

Apparently the “midfield Nunes” has rejected Wolves and Newcastle and wants either to play for a bigger team or stay at Sporting for now. Man United, City and us supposedly have him on their radar. He does look an interesting player; he did stand out in the Sporting-Benfica game I watched when scouting the “forward Nunez.”

Nunes is quality, and it the obvious next best young CM in the kind of profiles we've been looking at - Tchouameni, Bellingham, Gravenberch and Gavi.

The other player I like is Maxence Caqueret at Lyon.

BTW I think it’s a strange decision by Bayern to buy Gravenberch. He will come good, but he’s not what they need right now and it feels a bit random.

maybe Ajax were happy with add ons only being activated if he won the ballon d’or 3 seasons on the trot or scored a hat trick in consecutive Champions League finals.

The ink's hardly dry on one Nunez transfer, the twittersphere is now claiming we've done another deal. Take with a pinch of salt. The likely asking price for this player is likely to be £50m plus, is he worth that? I don't know

Yeah, it's a gamble. I understand why Spurs did it and also why no really big club went for him – the publicity disaster if he is convicted would far outweigh any value he adds on the pitch.

So it makes you wonder - why now? Helluva gamble isn't it?

Is this for real ? - is he any good ? - just seen his profile - boy from Brazil, and 6ft tall, I think Klopp wants tall players - hope he has some pace as well (if we do sign him).

25 mill £ on a player with 1 year remaining on his current contract and pending court case.
They have to be pretty sure that he gets cleared or else its a disaster of a transfer.

it’s kind of seedy to be interested in a player with that kind of accusation hanging over him surely, didn’t think the big teams would touch him

Yeah, didnt think anyone would sign him. Seems as the latest update from April says he is still under investigation.
If he's charged then this is a disaster for Spurs.

Yeah, that seems logical. But why arent other teams moving for him? Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle were interested.

Arsenal - who knows - they seem to be focused on bigger targets right now (Nkunu)
Everton - probably too busy trying to sell the team?
NEwcastle - didn't know they were linked but they should probably be focusing on spending 50 mill on Ox ... Eddie HOwe owes us.

they might have done I guess, but apart from maybe Arsenal, Spurs would be the best choice for him out of that lot. Everton are shit and going from living in Brighton to living in Newcastle sounds a bit miserable.

Yeah, true. No point in leaving Brighton for Everton. Newcastle and Arsenal at least could be a decent move.

He’s the type, I imagine, that might just have his head turned if Newcastle wade in with a mega bucks salary offer.

I don’t want him at Spurs. He’ll improve them no end.

Maybe no one wanted to pull the trigger, in case he turns out to be a big ol' rapist.

Maybe spurs got some dodgy insurance over it

Write up in The Times re Bissouma

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal worth in the region of £25 million with Brighton & Hove Albion for Yves Bissouma.
The 25-year-old midfielder is set to sign a five-year contract and is scheduled to undergo a medical on Thursday. Spurs revived their interest from January in Bissouma, who is entering the final 12 months of his contract with Brighton. The Mali international should become Tottenham’s third signing of the summer after the goalkeeper Fraser Forster and the wide player Ivan Perisic joined on free transfers.
It reflects Tottenham’s strategy of looking for the right deals despite the club’s owners announcing last month a £150 million injection to be put towards transfers this summer.
Tottenham are confident that personal terms will not be an issue and Bissouma should have a medical this week. He had a knee injury earlier this season and suffered an ankle problem last week but neither are expected to derail the deal. Liverpool and Arsenal considered signing him last summer and Aston Villa failed with a bid in January but dropped their interest recently.

Bissouma was arrested under suspicion of sexual assault in Brighton last October and was released under investigation before playing for Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations in January. He is still waiting to learn the outcome of the police investigation.

Bissouma signed for Brighton from Lille in 2018 for around £15 million. He has been highlighted for his energy and tackling which resulted in him collecting ten yellow cards this season. He is expected to partner Rodrigo Bentancur, who joined in January, in central midfield and is another indication that Harry Winks will be sold. Southampton are among the clubs following Winks if James Ward-Prowse leaves the club. Tottenham’s other midfield options are Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp, whose breakthrough season at the club ended early because of a pubis injury.
Born in Ivory Coast, Bissouma joined Jean-Marc Guillou’s academy in Mali at the age of 13. He made his first senior appearance for Lille in 2016 where he briefly played under Marcelo Bielsa and later helped the French club to survive in the top flight 2018.
Should Bissouma complete his move to Spurs, Antonio Conte wants at least four more signings, including two defenders, a creative midfielder and a forward. He would like them to arrive before the club’s tour to South Korea in the middle of July to give him the chance to work with them in pre-season. Tottenham are quietly confident of securing Christian Eriksen’s return as a free agent after the midfielder’s short-term deal at Brentford. They also have an interest in Richarlison, the Everton forward.

Conte wants to offload around eight players including Sergio Reguilón, Emerson Royal, Steven Bergwijn, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele. Ajax offered £17 million for Bergwijn, around £8 million less than demanded by Tottenham. Emerson has had interest from clubs in Spain. Villarreal have had talks to turn Lo Celso’s loan into a permanent deal. The Spanish club hope the deal will be worth £16 million, plus £5 million in add-ons, which is less than Tottenham want.
