I recall the name as being a 90s footballer, just didn't know what his role is now in relation to having the inside scoop on some Bellingham deal.

Regardless, I am all in.

Agreed. This is the next VVD deal that makes perfect sense. We did not sign a midfielder in the summer, because we are waiting, as we did with VVD.

A generational talent with real potential to make Liverpool his last club.

[article]RB Leipzig want to bring in Michael Edwards from Liverpool as their new sporting director, according to Sport Bild.

LIVERPOOL CONFIDENT OF SIGNING FULHAM’S FABIO CARVALHO, REPORT CLAIMS
Liverpool are ‘confident’ of beating the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton to the signing of Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho, reports TEAMtalk.

Carvalho, 19, is in the final year of his contract at Fulham.

The Englishman has burst onto the scene this season with three goals and one assists in his seven Championship outings for the Whites, having recently returned from injury.
Renewing his contract has been a priority for Marco Silva’s side but recently, it was revealed that Carvalho had rejected the offer of a renewed contract and now TEAMtalk report that Liverpool are ‘confident’ of securing his signing.
Plenty of teams have been linked with Carvalho – the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have been loosely linked, with Leeds and West Ham also mentioned.
The same report from TEAMtalk though outs Liverpool, Spurs and Southampton as the leading candidates to secure the signing of Carvalho.
But the reports goes on to mention how Fulham are ‘desperate’ to keep hold of the youngster, and ‘confident’ that they’ll secure his future.
A bright future

Carvalho made his league debut for Fulham at the back end of last season and made an impression right away – he lacks no confidence on the pitch and rightly so, with his natural ability making him the ideal kind of player for the Premier League.
He’s pacey, good on the ball and has an eye for a pass and a goal too, and he started this similar in similar fashion before picking up an untimely injury.
Carvalho would be a keen signing for any side in the Premier League. But he certainly looks to have the Liverpool DNA about him, and so we could see Jurgen Klopp’s side make moves to try and bring him in at some point this season.

This would be a good signing.

This is impressive

[article]The Brazilian is a stand-out player in the league for his ability to repeat these high-intensity efforts of movement off the ball, which has significant repercussions on the styles of play with which he’s able to fit into. While he’s a gifted creator against defensive units that are designed to be broken down, his physical attributes and willingness to run without the ball make him an ideal weapon for transitioning from defence to attack, as well as attacking after recovering the ball through pressing.

It’s this combination of attributes that Marcelo Bielsa referred to when discussing Raphinha’s impact at the start of the season. “It’s his explosiveness and his speed, his repetitions and quick physical responses…” Bielsa said. “On top of that, he sustains the effort without any problems. Players with those conditions, there are many in the Premier League. What there are very few of are the players with the talent that he has with his feet, that he has to resolve a situation.”

In carrying out his duties as the primary spark of this Leeds United team, Raphinha’s time at the club so far has also simultaneously been a demonstration of the talents that are sought-after by the clubs hunting at the top of European football. Put simply, there just aren’t many wingers of his age that have the aforementioned attributes – and have shown them over an extended period – who haven’t yet been plucked by Champions League-level clubs. His performances make the issue of his long-term future an unavoidable topic, but in the meantime, Leeds will hang on every touch of the most talented player to pass through Elland Road in many years.[/article]

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Real Sociedad's Mikel Merino next summer.
The Reds are expected to bring at least one central midfielder to the club in 2022, having failed to replace Georginio Wijnaldum during the summer transfer window.
Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, but BVB have continued to insist that the England international is not for sale.

As a result, Liverpool are now exploring alternative options, and according to Fichajes, the Merseyside giants are preparing to 'reactivate' their interest in Merino.
The report claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp views the Spain international as the ideal player to fit into his team's midfield due to his energy, versatility and 'dominant physique'.
Liverpool are allegedly prepared to make a 'significant investment' to tempt Real Sociedad into letting the 25-year-old leave during next summer's transfer window.
Merino, who has scored twice and provided two assists in 16 appearances at club level this term, previously played in the Premier League for Newcastle United between 2017 and 2018.

Liverpool plot triple January swoop to cover for Mo Salah and Mane's AFCON absence
https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfer-news-salah-mane-25426528

Would be nice, and needed especially given that it is possible we could drop out of CL placing, and have to play catch up on the lads return ( If they return fit, with no injury concerns)
With Brenford, Palace and Leicester City being at presnt our only to PL fixtures (That could change) these will not be easy fixtures as well we know throw in the possiblity of a FA Cup Draw,Carabao Cup, and CL draws it is not had to justify why we need re-enforcements.

The AFCON starts 6/1/22 and runs to 9/2/22.
Depending on how things pan out It could be that we have two of our three players meeting in the final Mane,(Senegal) Salah ( Egypt) Keita (Guinea)
We could also be playing Chelsea on the 2/1/22. Will the Lads be traveling on,or before that date, or in fact be back in the country for the Burnley game on the 12/2/22.

I would settle for a striker and one of Schlager, Gravenberch or Kalvin Phillips.

But concidering our owners it is unlikely

Does anybody out there truly actually think that we're ever gonna spend big money again..?

As we know they'll never be big signings without significant player sales, but FSG will be left with no choice in 2/3 years when many in this squad are on their last legs and a new manager will be on the horizon. Rather than gradual evolution, the owners seemingly want to extract everything from this competitive squad, which is fair enough, providing the resources and the nous are there to rebuild significant chunks of the team when it's required. I suspect there's a thought-process that this is very much Klopp's squad to get the very best out of it, and then funding will ramp up in 2024 for the new manager to rebuild as he see's fit.

What we do with Salah's contract will shed some insight into our long-terms plans.

We've got a massive rebuild coming up. To be honest, we should be looking to start now, but we're stalling. Then there are the expenditures with expansion of the stadium, training ground etc. I can see quite a long period of regression and stagnation in the next few years unless we find the next Klopp. He's worked wonders in spite of these owners.
