Can't believe how many fans loved Wijnaldum like he was our most important player, he was so unbelievably overrated here.

Watched PSG's first few games and honestly never noticed he was on the pitch.

All the crap talk from everyone about how we'd miss him....have we?

Can’t judge that until we see how we do over the entire season. 4games in and we’ve already lost one midfielder for the season.

Seems like a serious talent - but he’s born in Munich, so seems like only a matter of time before he ends up at Bayern.

He looks better than decent. Barça hasn't two cents to rub together-- those days are gone, I'd like to think. It will be Bayern more likely than not but hopefully if we're really interested, his people would be wise enough seriously to consider us.

I'm actually fluent in German and heard what Adeyemi said post match, pretty sure it was something along the lines of "I can't fucking wait to sign for Liverpool in Jan, I love everything about the club, Klopp, the fans, the history, the style football, the Anfield cat."

having watched him the flesh many many times I can confirm that this opinion is absolute dogshit.

Funny how the 2 seasons we won stuff was when we brought in Alisson Virgil etc...he was here for 5 years, what did we in the other 3 seasons?

Bit of a telling factor no? Whom the "decisive and most important" players really are here.

Hated the few goals he scored for us, the away ones in both semis including especially those 2 silly ones in the ever so forgettable second leg against Barca. We probably would have won anyway right?.
He should take his stupid gini gini chant and bugger off.
Oh wait he has but he still get mentions...

No. That "what did we win" nonsense applies to every player who was here before VvD and Alisson arrived - were they all a waste of space too? If Wijnaldum was as peripheral as you claim, what's really "funny" is how he kept getting picked even after those guys arrived to complete the jigsaw. Funnier still is the way you and his other critics on here seem to think you know better than the guy who kept picking him.

Not going to go into the whole debacle of why he was picked all the time, he was Klopp's favourite....Klopp's trusted in staying fit (which no one can take from him) whilst all the other players had long long long long injuries.

It's not about knowing better than XYZ, He also kept picking Fab to play at CB when we were crying out for Nat to play and Fab pushed back into midfield....we all make mistakes.

It IS about knowing better. Those who claim it was a mistake to pick Wijnaldum need to explain what they'd have done instead and why. Incidentally we weren't all by any means "crying out" for Fabs to go back into midfield straight away - for sure we missed him badly there but, if Klopp reckoned neither Nat nor (especially) Rhys Williams was ready to begin with, he was in a far better position than any of us to decide.

Well we all assume that JJ but he was great from Game 1. Personally I think Klopp fucked up not putting him in much earlier. Not that it would've made any difference.

Can he score? No. Pass? No. Quick? No. What can he do? Not get injured. Fantastic!

He was also incredibly consistent, with an occasional outlier offensively and, more rarely, a poor outlier defensively.

He gave a 6.5-7.5 performance every game all season long with a 5 or 9 here or there.

That is an asset. I still think we are fine without him.

That’s a better asset than not being injured. That’s why people don’t really rate him. Myself included. Week after week he’d be surrounded by players hitting 8s and 9s. He’d get a 6 or 7.

We’ve had midfielders who would be having a bad game and getting 6.5 such was their quality. He’s won a few trophies and will never be remembered.

We will be fine without him.

Wijnaldum was a player who seemed to play well when everyone else did, and shite when everyone else did.

He was a passenger at cm, riding on the coat tails of better players.

Now at psg "oh he's tired". Bollocks he is. He's just been found out that when he doesn't have Fabinho or hendo next to him he actually has to fucking do something

Gini usually reserved his best performances for big games, some even called him “big-game Gini.” The 6 - 6.5 performances every week are not surprising given that he played in every game without rest and often in different midfield positions too.
