If all the mods weren't pissed or busy, lewy wouldn't need to step in!

So well played lewy!

Well played indeed.

I really don't want to be in the Europa League.
Me neither.

We'll be better off without it
i think we needed it to get prepared for the champions league to be honest, but yeah, positive is we should have a better chance of gettin in th top 4
I've never been convinced this is true TBH. The best teams thrive on being in as many competitions as long as possible. Here's hoping you're right though.

I'm afraid that the inclusion of Carroll will fuck our game up today.
I hope not but I just don't see Suarez and Carroll working well together. Hope I'm wrong.

*cough*

So glad Liverpool loses and you're right. So glad, you twat. >🙁

*cough cunt*
Try reading the post again. I'm Swedish and I'm worried about your comprehension of the English language.
Your use of the english language is so poor you even confuse yourself.

There is no way the way liverpool played was purely associated with Carroll. There were all sorts of reasons from Dawson and King playing solidly, to Webb gifting them a penalty to Spearing and Lucs not matching Spurs 3 man midfield, Spurs coming out faster and harder at the KO.

The very fact that you bought your post up really goes to shows all you're interested is being right.
alright now kids, dont make me turn this car around
spurs defence was on top form, but if we started with shelvey instead of carroll and played what we're used to i think we would have had a much better chance, modo clearly didnt want us to lose
I never said Modo wanted us to lose. He's just more interested in being right.

If we won or drew, would Modo have bought his post back up. I don't think so.

On the plus side, I thought Carroll's link up play and passing was good, it was just his inability to get into good positions when the ball went into the box that worried me.
Which is down to lack of match pratice after injury.
I think not. I would have thought passing and lin up play would suffer more. I always thought that getting into a good position is something the best players just *know* how to do. I hope I'm wrong though.

i said crouch would get a hatrick, if he did i woulda have gloated, not because i woulda been glad we lost but because, well fuck what else am i gona gloat about after that game??

Why the fuck would you worry about Carroll?! Just returned from injury, again. Stop start career so far because of injury with us so far.?The whole team was below average and you single out him. Ridiculous.
i don't think he's a bad player, i'm just not convinced he's the right player for us and i think paying £35m for him when he was carrying a medium-term injury and we had little to play for was pretty bad business, although i suppose just how bad depends on exactly how much we spend this summer.

i know a lot of you don't care about the 'deal' aspect of a signing, but i think it's pretty important.
Why wouldnt he fit in to our system?? If you've wathced him play for Newcastle you'd see that he's as good on the deck as in the air. We've signed the best up anc coming nr 9 in England, and he'll bang in the goals for years to come.
The reason he looks of pace is because he hasnt had a long run in the first team yet and a very start stop LFC career so far.

A good pre season under his belt, wingers who can attack the full backs and cross and we'll suddenly look like a team that can play fast crisp passing on the ground but also attack in the air.
The main thing here is that we get diversity and can change things around.

So, give him a year before making a judgement. The fee was inflated because of Torres. So just forget it, it doesnt matter anyway.
i haven't made a judgement so get off your high horse. i don't buy that the fee was inflated because of torres. all i'm saying is that we could easily have waited until the summer to let the market calm down and assess how we really needed to spend the £35m. hand on heart, after watching our good recent performances while he's been injured he just isn't the player i'd pick to fit into a fluid, technical system - off the top of my head i'd be hoping for someone more like benzema.

that's my opinion. i hope i'm quickly forced to change it, but i certainly won't be by your potestations, so just fucking deal with it.

I think you are, cause he looked a bit slow and off pace. Which lead him to be a bit far away from where the action was, and didnt manage to get in the box quick enough.

That was never a problem in his Newcastle days, and wont be here either. Just have patience.

The fee was inflated because;

a) We were just about to recive 50 mill £, and the whole world knew about it
b) it was transfer deadline day

I couldnt care less if you changed your opinion or not about him. I just think its unfair that people bash him when we lose. Everyone was shite today and there were several of our key players that didnt turn up. Simple as.

Yea, I intend to be patient, as I said I thought he linked up well with his back to goal so he'll definitely be a useful player. Maybe you're right about the pace and maybe we also need the rest of the team to have an understanding of the kind of run he makes - or where he stands and waits for the ball.

but that's the crux of my point! why the hurry? i thought it was a silly, unnecessary risk at the time, and there hasn't been a lot to convince me otherwise since.

fair enough, he was far from the only poor performer today, but it's only natural that people will focus on a someone who cost £35m rather than, say, maxi, who cost buttons.

Like I said it's silly to judge a player who's half fit at a new club after a handful of games. Just as it would be silly to judge him after two great goals vs citeh. Give him until Xmas a least. Some great touches today and passing - and we know he can finish so chill out on the criticism

I was worried by Carroll's inclusion before the game. I don't think he really fits in to the style play we have at the moment. Could be a different story next season if we get the right players during the summer.
I'm happy that we have Carroll though, because it adds another dimension to our attack but we desperately need a winger to get the most out of him.

I also think Suarez needs someone in the middle that can combine with him during our attacks.
With Meireles missing I would have started Shelvey instead of Carroll.

When we've got Maxi and Kuyt on the left and right, it's no surprise that Andy is finding it difficult.

If we can buy some decent wingers this summer he'll be aces next season imo.

I agree Pete, but it was probably as much about PR and making a statement, as anything. We lost Torres, we had to hit back. I do think he's a good player though, if he's the right player is another question.

yeah, i understand why we felt we had to make a big splash. i don't think we were right to think that, though, especially because we'd already signed suarez - we weren't going to be high and dry.

anyway, just to stress: i'm not criticising carroll per se. i think he's got every chance of being a great player for us.

Read that England will get one of the fair play spots in Euro League. Rumour is that Fulham will get it.

Ha, who'd have thought in August that Fulham,Stoke and Birmingham would get European football but we wouldn't!?

I'm having one of those moments where i'm starting to wonder what the hell i was seeing during the match , I just caught the end of some highlights there and the commentator said "Spurs have completely dominated proceedings and fully deserve their victory ", but that's not what i saw . Don't get me wrong we weren't brilliant but it's not as if Spurs were all over us or pissing on us . I mean apart from the goals the only other shot i can remember was Pienaar's right at the end and there were large parts of the game where they hardly crossed the half way line. They scored a poxy sliced volley and got a useless penalty at an important moment but had very few decent passages of play that impressed me . If i was to use any word to describe them , especially in defence , it would be "comfortable" .......but "dominated" , no way .
We were all huff and puff Redzep.
Yep. Spurs played a very good defensive game and you've already mentioned their attacks. We missed that special spark to score a goal or carve a decent chance. Carrolls fluffed header was the only real chance.

Did thought we had more procession in the 2nd half.

..but more importantly , to add a few points about ourselves . I personally believe that two good measures of a really strong side are decent away form and the ability to come back after going behind . Our away form is improving but if i am being honest I'm still not very confident of getting anything after we go behind. I guess that might take a little longer to come and perhaps highlights how we do infact need a few more quality players in the team ...but i guess we all know that and thankfully it looks like the management do too . So as frustrating as today was , along with it being a bit of a knock , we have to remember we're still a work in progress.

Touching on the carroll thing , to me he looks like he's going to be one of those big lads that really needs to be match fit or he's going to look very heavy on his feet. Like a few others , I was very impressed by his hold up play and he's actually surprisingly skillfull , i saw alot of positive signs today. If something was to 'worry' me , it was the fact that when we did get the ball wide , he seemed to be behind play and not in the box where we wanted him .Hopefully that improves with fitness and team understanding.
Another concern right at this moment might be how he impacts Suarez's game . Suarez has looked great playing up front with Kuyt , the two are very mobile, dragging defenders all over the place . I'm not sure he'll be able to get a partnership like that going with Carroll. And i really didn't like it when he went out left , he didn't get into the game at all. There's a big difference between being up front and drifting out left , unsettling your centre back marker, and actually having your starting position out there . But again the hope is these things all improve as the players get to know each other , these lads haven't played alot together so far so there's alot of learning for players and coaching staff to do .

We were all huff and puff Redzep.
Yep , that's true ....i guess what I am trying to say is that to me Spurs got a result today more from us being off our game than them being anything special , although of course their defence was strong .

Today was such a bummer. Mind you it's always going to be three steps fwd and one back in this scenario. Injured players and a squad needing improvement. WBA was another dip but it was just a blip
