Torres gone. Scum gone to more scum

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

The Torres is fee is about right given his attitude and injury problems in recent years. I've got no qualms with the fee, but £35M for Carroll is a complete joke.

If he's the best we can do in this window then we should reject the Torres bid and keep him until the summer.

Fuck off Comolli, you useless sack of shite.

Someone help me, ive got a knobhead Evertonian in work arguing with me.

It can be written into Torres’ contract that he cant play against us next week cant it? Its happened before in the past with a high profile signing in the Premier league but cant for the life of me remember who. Can anyone remember this happening before???
As far as I'm aware the FA put a stop to these caveats being included in transfers. You can still do this with loan deals though.
I think there have been a few times where it has been agreed informally but I don't think it is generally written into the contract.

I recall something about Dwight Yorke when he left United.
I don't think a clause can be written in, pretty certain. We can certainly have a gentlemans agreement though.
Would anyone trust a 'gentleman's' agreement with Chelsea, though?

Agreed. We should wait until the summer when the market allows for multiple buyers like Barca and city. If we pay 35 for this fella, how can we ever get a bargain signing anywhere ever again. It doesn't make any sense in any way excepted in the mind of a panicked man.

How? Anyone who bids 50m can talk to him. Why would they bid more?

Am I totally misunderstanding how a release clause works?

Yes, this got me excited too.
Signing Young would be great.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

If Buddha is right (and we are in for Suarez, Adam, Carroll and Young) then Fenway are making a HUGE statement this transfer window.

Yes, they want young players but Christ they sure as hell are not shying away from spending big money to get the players we want. In some ways I'm OK with overpaying ... we have had years of trying to pay what a player is actually worth, failing to get him and as a consequence seeing transfer fees rise and rise (and the original fee then seeming an absolute bargain) and seeing our squad get weaker and weaker.

I'm not sure the first part of that statement is accurate. As for the second bit then it's not you can it's that they are not permitted to at all.
Froggy, yer a little confused methinks, I'm 90% sure the first part is correct but 100% sure the second part is correct. Even last week Arsenal allowed their player Sanchez-Watt who is on loan at Leeds to play against them in the FA Cup.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Carroll was offered to west ham for 1mil when Clarke was in charge they turned down the chance as Clarke didn't rate him. From twatter.

Do you remember it happening a few years ago with a high profile deal Pease?
Yeah there was a high profile one that eventually forced the FA to act to put a stop to the practice. I'm quite sure it involved United so it might have been the Saha one that someone else mentioned.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a brilliant move? Putting aside that the sulky twat is off, and we are paying over the odds, I think that it could be an excellent signing for the future.

Talking to the missus yesterday about Suarez I said we needed a target man he could feed off, and after being asked who that could be I could only think of three - Llorente (whom I don't know a lot about), Lukaku (young and inexperienced but probably will be the real deal) and Andy Carroll.

He is an absolute beast, and I think he'll be a class act for years to come. At times he is unplayable.

Adam 24, Suarez 23, Carroll 22 - thats the right age to be buying.

-------------------------Carroll-------------------------
-----------------Suarez--------------------------------
Cole/Maxi/Kuyt-----------------------------Gerrard
---------------Adam---------Ming--------------------

I like. We can't control the price or the departure of whiny cunt.
Im with you mate. If we could get him for 10m then great but that isnt the case. Yes 30-35m is fucking huge and over the odds, but as a signing i think he is just what we need. He's like crouch with pace and power.
Id be delighted to sign him if the board can afford it the fee means nothing to me really.

Well if Chelsea offered 50 City could offer 51 plus better terms. Somebody else could offer higher. Thats the way I look at it.

In a heartbeat.

Benzema may come good one day but so far he's only looked like a slightly polished Babel in terms of value.

Seriously?

The only thing Carrol has over Benzema, IMO, is that he's proven in this league. In every other measurable aspect - footballing skill, touch, control, passing, mobility, mental stability - Benzema is a significant improvement.

The league proven bit, I admit, is a massive point though.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Let's just get it over and done with... It's half twelve here, and I've got work in the morning! He's going, Carroll's coming. Someone confirm it and be done with the scumbag!

Yeh, but, with the clause triggered by an offer of £50m, then Torres could choice where to go regardless of any higher bids. So, £50m from his preferred club would be what we'd get.

Is Andy Carroll fast, well, at least above average in speed terms?
