i'd take carroll over benzema.

Considering Benzema would probably be about £10mil cheaper, I wouldn't

Caroll will be drunk and locked up after a week

Plus I have a feeling nando will be seeing more of the physio table as he gets older.
It will be tough to spend anymore time there than he currently does, he has been a glass man for us the past two years.

Someone help me, ive got a knobhead Evertonian in work arguing with me.

It can be written into Torres’ contract that he cant play against us next week cant it? Its happened before in the past with a high profile signing in the Premier league but cant for the life of me remember who. Can anyone remember this happening before???
As far as I'm aware the FA put a stop to these caveats being included in transfers. You can still do this with loan deals though.
I'm not sure the first part of that statement is accurate. As for the second bit then it's not you can it's that they are not permitted to at all.
Froggy, yer a little confused methinks, I'm 90% sure the first part is correct but 100% sure the second part is correct. Even last week Arsenal allowed their player Sanchez-Watt who is on loan at Leeds to play against them in the FA Cup.
Really ? Maybe I am wrong. Maybe it's OK in the FAC but not in the PL ? I' sure there was a statement from the PL on this a year or so ago.

Because it would become an auction.
How? Anyone who bids 50m can talk to him. Why would they bid more?

Am I totally misunderstanding how a release clause works?
Well if Chelsea offered 50 City could offer 51 plus better terms. Somebody else could offer higher. Thats the way I look at it.
No. They would all offer 50, and we would have to let Torres decide amongst them. No reason to offer 51.
That depends on the price, surely? I don't think Benzema would cost anything like £35m. Real paid €35 million for him and he's hardly played. And while I can understand us paying an inflated fee for Carroll because of the timing, an inflated fee would be the £23m that Tottenham offered them for him. £35m is just wasteful.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a brilliant move? Putting aside that the sulky twat is off, and we are paying over the odds, I think that it could be an excellent signing for the future.

Talking to the missus yesterday about Suarez I said we needed a target man he could feed off, and after being asked who that could be I could only think of three - Llorente (whom I don't know a lot about), Lukaku (young and inexperienced but probably will be the real deal) and Andy Carroll.

He is an absolute beast, and I think he'll be a class act for years to come. At times he is unplayable.

Adam 24, Suarez 23, Carroll 22 - thats the right age to be buying.

-------------------------Carroll-------------------------
-----------------Suarez--------------------------------
Cole/Maxi/Kuyt-----------------------------Gerrard
---------------Adam---------Ming--------------------

I like. We can't control the price or the departure of whiny cunt.
Im with you mate. If we could get him for 10m then great but that isnt the case. Yes 30-35m is fucking huge and over the odds, but as a signing i think he is just what we need. He's like crouch with pace and power.
Id be delighted to sign him if the board can afford it the fee means nothing to me really.
He has missed one league game this season, mate. Although sometimes you've had to wonder if he is playing.

Yeah, he's got a bit of speed. Certainly no slouch. Nothing like Torres though.

56 if you include babel. 33 Million for four players who will improve the squad immensely. I'm suddenly not as depressed as I was.

no, i'm pretty sure you're right. can't see any reason to bid above £50m whatsoever.

it's not worth it though, they won't listen to you!

Yeah, true.

That is the most likely eventualty.

Carroll on his way to Liverpool at the moment, apparantly.

I know it's splitting hairs, but Adam is supposed to be £8m, and Suarez is 'up to' £23m so probably an initial fee of about £18-19m.

That, and the £50m fee from Fernando Cunto, and we have completely revamped and improved the team for about £35m.

Oh, £29m including Babel.
