Manchester City have condemned racist abuse aimed at 17-year-old goalscorer Rico Lewis by Sevilla fans during the Champions League win over the Spaniards at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

City said two arrests have been made and police and the club are investigating.

We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind at our stadium," City said.

As taken by itself ya thats all fair and right but then I think back to how they acted and tried to point the finger at klopp and something that happened 5 years ago as an excuse for their fans acting like scumbags at anfield a few weeks ago

Mate - they’re the least self aware group of people I know.

There’s a friend of mine that’s skating perilously close to getting blocked - he’s an intelligent old person that should know better - but he seems to have gone down the rabbit hole after being previously sensible - possible the failure of Brexit & Oz lockdowns have taken it’s toll.

He’s been trying to troll me recently that Klopp’s on the verge of being sacked or quitting and that he’s nothing more than a moaning whinger.

The articles he keeps sending to support this view are the sort of click sit made up stuff that even Ross at his worst wouldn’t post.

Then he starts pulling out the 5 year net spend graphs as proof that City are a frugal club. He’s ignoring the 10 year net spend figures, obviously.

Of course the bus comes out - with something about secret footage he can’t share with me due to “legal reasons” apparently the bus was “bombed” and people nearly died - “look what a disgrace Liverpool fans are” - he’s still ignoring the footage of City fans attacking a bus in the same way.

Then he really goes weird - according to him the toilet graffiti at Anfield after the last match was actually put there by Liverpool fans - there’s absolutely no condemnation of City fans and he starts to trot out the xenophobic Klopp line - don’t think he coped to well with me asking if he even knew what the word meant.

Next up Paris - apparently the French police did the right thing - forged tickets and Liverpool fans being dogs.

He decided the conversation should stop after I told him I missed the days when City fans weren’t hypocritical try-hard cry-babies desperately trying to feel like they’re better than everyone else.

I fully expect to ask him if he’ll be watching the World Cup and get a reply along the lines of “no I morally object to how middle eastern states act” - because I don’t think he’ll be quite self-aware enough to see the problem with that.

Anyway - it kept me entertained while I polished off a bottle of red and skated through Tales of the Jedi.

He ought to use that as an excuse to jump ship before he gets pushed

He's got to try to make things work at Chelsea. Started well but in a bit of a spin right now and World Cup break won't help. Won't get another shot at a big club if he bounces after less than a season.

ten Hag raiding Eredivisie (and weakening PSV for Ajax)

[article]Manchester United Treble winner Teddy Sheringham says PSV star Cody Gakpo shouldn't be pursued.

Sheringham is not convinced that a move for Gakpo would be a wise one from Erik ten Hag.

He told BoyleSports: “Man United do not need another flitty player like Gakpo in their ranks.

“We need a centre-forward who can lead the line now that Ronaldo has gone.

“We need a focal point for the team to hit and who can bring players into play. We cannot go for another technical player who can play as a winger or a false nine.

“We already have so many of those in Martial, Rashford and Sancho and right now it's a bit of a detriment to be honest."[/article]

Not many options left for Kane, isn't it?

[article]Chelsea legend John Terry has taken a swipe at Tottenham and the ambitions of Harry Kane.

Blues icon Terry has claimed that Kane's ambitions of lifting trophies will never be met as long as he stays with Spurs in what is a brutal jibe at the North London club.

Speaking to beIN Sports, the now 41-year-old said: “I think Harry Kane has got ambitions to go and win trophies – he's clearly not going to do that at Tottenham is he?

“Let's be honest. He's not, clearly. Let's be honest with ourselves. He's one of the best strikers in the world. He wants to win trophies. He wants to play for the best and biggest teams.

“Spurs are not that, Spurs are not going to give him what he wants. He wants to finish his career with some trophies."[/article]

Who, Kane? I doubt that. He might have if he were younger but I can't see him wanting to go abroad now, trophies or no trophies.

Dele Alli no. 2? Or do you reckon he will come good?

Jadon Sancho is not 'physically or mentally' ready to play for Man United, reveals Erik ten Hag, with £73m signing missing training camp in Spain having turned off social media after World Cup snub

[article]Jadon Sancho is training away from Manchester United and will not return until he is physically and mentally ready to play for the club again.

Sancho has been working in Holland with coaches trusted by his manager Erik ten Hag, having not kicked a ball for United since October 22 due to illness. The 22-year-old missed the club's training camp in Spain last week after he was left out of England's squad for the World Cup.

Sancho, who joined United 18 months ago for £73million from Borussia Dortmund, turned off his social media accounts last month to focus on his family and the second half of the season, according to sources.

Sancho has not played since October 22 due to illness and it has raised concerns over the gifted Londoner, even more so after he shut down his social media accounts last month, with sources saying he did so to focus on his family and the second half of the season.

United sources insist Sancho has not been axed from the squad after he missed the club's mid-season training camp in Spain last week.

They stress that Ten Hag spotted the drop-off in Sancho's performances and advised him to follow an individual training programme to improve his fitness and mindset.

It has been described as a 'reset' for the player away from Carrington and the intense scrutiny of Old Trafford. Ten Hag confirmed on Tuesday that no deadlines have been placed on Sancho's return.

Sancho has only scored eight goals and contributed four assists in 52 games for United. He has struggled to justify the £73million paid to Borussia Dortmund to sign him in July last year, 12 days after the Euro final at Wembley.

No, I reckon he's done at top level. Fails to handle the pressure at City as a youngster, does well in a less demanding situation over in Germany but then crumbles again when he returns to a pressure situation at ManU. Boy in a man's body.

I think he choose the wrong team at the wrong time - won’t be the first, won’t be the last, but a move to a team just outside the “top 6” or one with a better manager and it could easily turn around.

He’s 22 - he’s got time on his side - but he can’t afford to stagnate there.

At the right price and the right manager - he’s a bargain.

He'd be a star if he was with us ...

Not sure if he would be a star with us. I don't see any explosive burst of pace or consistent high levels of skill or dribbling ability with him. I feel he is also like Werner or Havertz as in excellent talent whose skills are more suited to Bundesliga and don't translate to the PL where the defenders are faster, more athletic, game is more pacier and tighter.

If you were to believe rumours, then the Arse are going for Mudryk, Felix and Danilo. This a club that hasn't mad CL football for a few seasons, has borrowed heavily, so how are they not in violation of FFP? Unlike City who can use shell companies to massage figures, the Arse can't @Beamrider

But Arsenal hasn’t spent much in years and was reportedly sitting on huge cash reserves which Akron me was using as collateral to finance his other sports ventures.

I’m inclined to wait and see if they actually sign any of these players before looking into how they can afford to do so. Partly because I’m holed up at my Dad’s for a bit with no laptop and no broadband

Man Utd's opportunity to break into the top 4 and stay there. Let's see how many pts Arsenal drop.
