Ha! He'd actually better step up now that Stevie is out injured for a month or two.

i hope gerrard gives that cunt a solid right hook. the fake fucking tough guy. he's just a fucking phoney. a fucking fugesi.

hopefully he'll blabber some bollocks about rooney's or carroll's private life too, and they can finish off whatever's left of his wrinkled up face. cunt

Capello has been horrible as England manager.

But there is also a distinct lack of quality in the team. England did not (in the last few years) have the players to win a major football tournament, regardless of what the media says....and sadly i don't see it changing that quickly.

Christ, what a boring match! England being totally outplayed by a France team in cruise control. Wenger sounds genuinely embarrassed by how bad England are, while Lizarazu actually said: 'It's a shame for Gerrard, who's a world-class player, to be stuck in a team with such a lack of skill.'

England are so much like Liverpool under Hodgson that it's depressing.
Absolutely agree Bunnyman.

I watched that and actually felt sorry for England. Some top quality players (Gerrard, Milner, Johnson, etc etc) being made to look like cunts by an ordinary French team and more pertinently - by their own Manager.

How long has Capello had in that role? Fucking too long by the looks of it. He hasn't advanced them one bit since the day he took over. I presume English fans, like most football fans, would be happy to see their team play shite, unimaginative football so long as it had them competing at the top and in with a chance of winning something. Well he hasn't even got that. They were embarassed at the World Cup, and on the evidence of that performance tonight - they're going backwards.

Crappy, 30 years outdated, rudimentary tactics, play, tempo, movement and poise. Everything done in straight lines, and from back to front. It took 29 seconds for the first ball to be pumped long up to Andy Carroll's head. It came from Rio at centre back. And that set the tone. Fucking rubbish.

The French meanwhile, in disarray 3 months ago, simply played their way around England. Nasri pulling strings everywhere and popping up wherever he liked. You don't have to be confied to a position just cos your name has you there on a teamsheet (another bug bear of mine - there's fuck all wrong with playing players out of position from time to time, but I'll get to that on another day). Easy triangles, moving into position, drifting away from stoic markers, doing the easy thing. That's a pretty average French side doing things relatively simple, and they made England look shite.

The pundit on Setanta (I don't know who the fuck he was) said at one point in the second half: "Look at that - Milner picks it up and he's got 3 players on him. THAT'S the difference - the French are hunting in packs! We need to start doing that - get amongst them, rough them up a bit!".

No you fucking blert, that's exactly what you don't need to be doing. The problem with England over the last 30 years encapsulated in one pathetic soundbite. There's a reason why you can't "hun in packs" - because you can't get anywhere near the fucking French, and because this isn't the Vauxhall bastard Conference. And how about some movement amongst the English players so that the French don't end up having 3 players covering James Milner? I fucking despair, and I'm not even English.

Players like Gerrard, Ashley Cole, Rooney, etc etc deserve better than this shit. England's style, mentality, and play hasn't adaptyed in 30 years. And whatever billions Capello is getting every year to continue that trend are being sorely wasted.

I'm watching the Spain game, aint half bad. End to end.

How is Torres getting on?

Not really involved. But it's good that he has had a run out. Couple of decent runs, but seems more concerned about not getting injured. Good lad.

hahaha! 'fucking fugesi', that's gold, goddammit, gold.

i'm going to have to start using more mafia slang in conversation, it'd make me a far more impressive figure.

How is it that Gareth Barry is still trusted by Capello to do a job for England.

He is worse than Lucas/Poulsen etc..he really is, and that is some achievement.

Cripes, Portugal beat Spain 4-0.
I didn't watch the game...

But i'm guessing, that is a kick in the nuts for all those who said Raul Miereles can't play the holding role....including Roy who seems to think that.

He played alongside Moutinho and Carlos Martins, and i can't imagine him playing the advanced role alongside those two.

For a team that plays to keep the ball, Miereles can clearly play the holding role at a high level.

I hope Roy Hodgson watched the game and pairs Raul Miereles and Jonjo at the center and leaves Poulsen out of the team.

Yeah his hysterical reactions havent changed but his play leading up to that was amazing, he left Pique on his arse and beautifully lobbed the keeper only for Nani to try steal the goal from him and have it ruled out through is own stupidity

That i expected from him.

His celebration for the first goal was quite disrespectful. He celebrated away from his team mates, as if it was his goal...trying to take all credit away from Martins, who scored a sweet volley off the rebound from Ronaldo's shot.

Ming looked good there too.

From what Ive seen of Meireles in international games he has a decent eye for a pass, not in the long range Alonso sense but he is adept at picking out a run from one of his team mates and keeping it simple, the sort of thing Fabregas does so well. Its surely a matter of time til we see him given a more central role now that Gerrard is out and then we will really see what hes capable of but generally I think hes been very much under used since he got here, hes a real midfield talent and were just using him to plug holes in the line up

Its getting to the point where he will have to do something completely insane to surprise people, its just taken for granted now that he will be brilliant in 80% of the games he plays, hes only 23. Every once in a while another player like Rooney Ronaldo or whoever has a burst of form and we start to see people ask the question of whether they have over taken Messi or some other such nonsense, there is nobody in the world close to him in terms of skill and consistency, he has 19 goals from 16 games this season, that is freakish. Especially when you consider hes not a centre forward

We must sign Romelu Lukaku first thing in January. He beat the Russians by himself, his second goal was magnificent from the control to the finish. He is big, strong and a goalscorer. He'll suit Roy's style more if Roy is gonna be given a shot and he'll be great for us for years. Can't imagine what training with Torres could do to his movement Also think he would be a great partner for Torres. He is quite possibly the next Drogba...

Just to take issue with the pressing thing: the French commentators were mostly shocked, not by England's technical weaknesses (they take those for granted) but by the lack of 'fighting spirit'. Lizarazu kept going on about how they were four metres away from the player with the ball all the time. Clearly most of the players were trying to economise how much energy they used because they played at the weekend and will play again next weekend. In a competitive match, the gulf between the two teams wouldn't have been so huge, because England would have pressed more aggressively and France would have made more errors. But when England take their foot off the gas, there's just nothing else there to compensate.

The worst thing is, it's all so fucking transparent, it's untrue. Play the kids to make everyone happy after your senior players fail so badly in the World Cup, and then when it comes around to the Euro's, go with the majority of the same overrated, overpaid senior players who failed so badly last time.

I hate England under Crapello.

To be fair, though, the 'kids' are overrated and overpaid as well.
