At the start of the season you'd have said they wouldn't get any lower than 45 at the midway stage......
Wouldn’t surprise me as they had just completed football.
Winning the WCC will reignite their fire now I’ve zero doubt. They’ll want back to back trebles.

City will city and they're comeback will be inevitable

All we can do is win and maintain a buffer
Like Dreamy said...our buffer is gone. Two draws that should have been wins did it.

They got drawn against Copenhagen in the CL and they can play their reserves. Not sure who they're playing in the FA cup, but probably Accrington Stanley.

Huddersfield at home, but not far off it.

We can’t contend if we continue being one of the teams with the most draws in the league.

We're in the race now! It's stupid to say we're not.

Whether we'll win it is another thing altogether.

Two things in our favour. Klopp teams does better in the second half of a season and we're the hardest team to beat in the league (still unbeaten)

Unofficially unbeaten, but officially beaten.
Dont know about 2nd half of season being so great, this season feels like...the near quad season combined with the shit season we had when VVD was out. In other words we are in it but not in it at the same time...6 fucking draws says it all.

Don't understand the obsession with the draws.

No team has won more than us so far.

So it's not like we've dropped more points than we should have done

Being in the race now is meaningless imo. It’s whether we are in it in March/April.
We aren’t unbeaten either. City have had a disastrous first half to the season yet we are 2 points ahead. We’ve missed our chance imo.
We are losing arguably two of best players for most of Jan, are competing on all fronts still and have a truck load of injuries and will no doubt get more.

Mad that 5th place (Spurs as I expect City win at least one of their games in hand) will be just 4 pts off top at the half way point.
No runaway team this year has at least keep the title interesting until City click into gear.

I know we’re not officially unbeaten but it took something completely out of the ordinary and unprecedented to beat us.

We’re still a team in transition but definitely ahead of schedule in our rebuild. It’s exciting times really. Lots to look forward to.

Absolutely. We are miles ahead of where I thought we’d be this season especially in terms of losses. It does feel like a big opportunity, hopefully it City do go against the norm and falter in the second half of the season it’s us and not Arsenal that win it.

We are on track for 84 pts.
That won’t win the league. We need more wins.

Bollocks are we, half way doesn't mean half points. How many of the top teams have we played away from home and how many relegation contenders do we play in the last 6 games vs how many 'easy' home games can we hope to bank. Projecting our final point sis (a) fucking pointless (b) not as simple doubling the number after 1/2 the games

Having said that I'd be pretty pleased with 84

I had a look at our schedule for the second half of the season and honestly it could be worse.
The most difficult away games we have are against Arsenal, Villa, Man U and I guess Everton.
However, the dropped points at home recently have left us with little to no leeway in the title race imo. I think we have to be near perfect in the remaining games to compete for the title.
If we draw against Arsenal away, which beforehand would seem like a good result, it's an even better result for Man C.

In the home game against Man C, I think we're going to be in a position where a draw just won't cut it and we have to get three points.

It is what it is, we're clearly ahead of schedule, but I feel like a lot of things have to go our way for us to win the league.

That is proper negative,

1) being in the title race is meaningful now - because the January window is about to open and maybe we can get a player that will help us get to a certain point. Agreed that you cannot tell until March if you really are a contender. Also we are 4 points ahead of city even if they win their games in hand.

2) I think City will lose/draw to Everton later tonight. Cannot see them beating them, Everton will be well up for it considering their situation and last result.

3) I think we should see the absense of Mo/Endo in January for better or worse as an opportunity for us to assess what we will need or don't need based on the players we have and their ability to cover. I have had this theory that if Salah is not around - I think our remaining front 4 in Jota/Nunez/Gakpo/Diaz will take on more responsibility and up their game, the pressure will be on them. I am more worried about Endo leaving us with no DM cover.

Teams fighting relegation in the second half of the season are notoriously hard to beat. Give me mid table all day long.

8pts ahead they have 2 games in hand.

Who put your nose out of joint? We're on 42 points. In 20/21 we were on 41 points at halfway point. We finished the season on 92 with city on 93. We lost two games that season and won 28 drawn 8.
The season we finished 5th we were 28pts after 19 games.
If things pan out right, we are looking a points tally between 84-94 points. 94 points should be enough to win the league IMHO.

Nothings out of joint, I honestly cant tell which team is more unstable between arsenal, city and us. But I sincerely believe we have the most talented squad of all of them. So heres my problem, we dont lose but we draw loads...can you say with any cinfidence we can win these fixtures..

- City at home
- Arsenal away
- United away
- chelsea at home
- Brighton at home
- Forest away
- Villa away
- Everton away

We could easily be limited to draws in the above fixtures. Its difficult to feel confident.

Man C has to drop at least 9 more points. 3 against us.

City’s tough spell is in March / April. If we match them til then it’s game on. They’ll be spread across CL & PL too. And hopefully Haaland gets more niggling injuries on that ankle.

Replying to myself here but that Arsenal game in Feb. Should be Robbo’s return, would be immense if he’s back and flying for that

We should make top four

That was the aim, but I am not sure if Klopp is going to go for it or not or he himself believes that he can this season. Some of his decisions this season in terms of who he starts is it based on getting the best out of the team or to give chances to players to get into form or get them to play in the right way ? - you see I don't know. The matches I listed for which I have doubts about we could just easily win them, but right now I just don't know - every game we play - I am never that 100% sure that we can beat any team especially after what happened at Luton. Much of it depends on how the opposition is setup - I am not convinced that the low block issues we face are easy pickings for us when compared to the seasons we won the CL and PL, if we had Mane/Bobby from that period then of course I would be 100% confident of winning those games given the midfield we have now.

Just for fun, go check our fixtures in May, compared to their fixtures the same month.

If we're not ahead by at least 4 points before those fixtures it's game over.
