That's what we got today (thank fuck!).

It's also how far we are behind Spurs in 5th. And how far we are above Wolves in 19th. Slender margins.

Can we get three points against Chelsea next week?

We've had a nightmare start to the season, but we're improving - and I still can't guess where we'll end up. Anyone?

I tell you what i'm fookin made up after todays result and that will make my week at work a hole lot better.

Chelsea? may be too soon to beat them but i wouldn't bet against it..

it makes me wonder where we would be right now if reina hadn't made that mistake against arsenal >🙁

if chelsea are in the mood they have the potential to batter us, which is really worrying.

europa league again next season is my guess

If we fluke a result against Chelsea it will be so awesome!!!

We will most certainly be in the top half of the table if we do that and thats all i care for in the short term.

Well we've got two wins against two average sides, but you can only beat the teams you're up against so can't complain too much really.

I would be shocked if we get anything out of Chelsea.

I think a lot will depend on whether Roy sees the season out. If he does and we continue to play like geriatric crabs away from home, we may well not finish in a European place IMO. If he goes and the right next appointment is made (whch IMO would be the King as interim manager pending a full search before a permanent appointment next summer) and if we then make one or two decent signings in January, top four isn't yet out of the question.

Same. Despite the 3 points today we are a bit of shambles in front of goal, looking fairly solid against the Boltons & Blackburns with Skrtel and the Greek. Will be interesting to see if Roy changes that pair given the mobility of Drogba and Anelka.

And again. Still, you never know... stranger things have happened.

Would be nice if City and Spurs struggled next week either way.

There are fine margins and if we keep winning then top 4 is still quite plausible.

Chelsea, anything can happen but we'll have to up our game quite significantly and close them down quickly.

The best team doesn't always win. Imagine what a result against the Chavs will do for our confidence?

i think we'll finish somewhere 6th-8th, and have done pretty much all along. no chance of 4th, not so much the points gap but the opponents - we're not going to finish above arsenal, man utd or man city, simple as that. and then there's spurs as well.

We might scrape a draw against Chelsea if we play well and get a bit of luck, but it will be very difficult.

I don't see us having enough up front to even score against them.

worry about keeping chelsea out rather than scoring ourselves.

Spider, you can't be sure that's exactly what Roy will be doing. Looking to contain them rather than having a go. That approach will get us spanked.

Then again, the match is at home so the lads might put in a huge shift and get us a good win. I can't wait!

And I'd like to add, that even if we hate the old sod that is in charge. He made an attacking sub when Cole got injured, and went for 2 strikers instead. It got us 3 points. Well done Maggie Thatchers spitting image twin brother.

Well, Budgie managed an away win, which is itself a fucking miracle, but we won't get a result against Chelsea

Course we wont. We've beat West Brom, Bolton and Blackburn by ONE goal. Weve lost or drawn with every other game and still have -5 goals.
Chelsea will fucking hump us. If we're lucky they will take Joe Cole back to Stamford Bridge with them.

Joe Cole has had a fucking nightmare start to his Liverpool career
[/quote]He really has. Im not a maaaaaasive fan anyway, but hes much better than weve seen so far.......in patches at least.

he won't change a winning team. yet if fucking holden can walk past lucas, then malouda or essien won't have a problem. so after they jog past him next up will be kyrgiakos and shortly after than they'll be one on one with reina

A good win today, nice to pick up three points on the road.
A draw at best next week but looking at Chelsea yesterday we're gonna have to play much, much better than today.
Torres needs to be up for it a lot more than he was today.

I thought Lucas had a good game again today. The last three games are as good as he has played for us.
He's still not good enough to be a starter though.

When the only competition is Poulsen, I'm afraid he probably is.

Oh yes, in this squad of players he is but in general we do need to sign a much better CM, soon.

That kid Holden was impressive. He's gonna be a player.

And Lucas was excellent.

I tell you something that seems to be a bit of an elephant in the room, never mind Roys formations , Lucas or fucking Poulsen, Torres has got to start looking like a player again pretty soon if we are to finish in the top half.
For eighty odd minutes he was a liability today.

regards

Agreed, I have been giving Torres the benefit of the doubt up to now, but I am beginning to get a bit irritated with him. It tends to devalue the defence that he doesn't get the service, if he keeps cocking up when he gets the ball.

He messed up a fair few chances. Only in the last two games he got those chances.

He has had a big slump in form and is trying to recover from it...can you name another player who was always on red hot form?

As vlad says, it would have been nicer to have a backup who can pick up the slack, but unfortunately we don't.

I just hope we don't find the urge to writeoff or sell a good player every time he has a slump in form.
