It's strange to think that Trent hasn't had a particularly good season up to this point – far less productive in attacking sense compared to Robbo on opposite flank, possibly improved compared to last season defensively, but his efforts didn't get him into Morse's top 3 even once.

But boy did he explode in this game! The 3 assists were all picture-perfect, but look at the rest of his passing: how he puts the ball perfectly into a teammate's stride, with just the right amount weight and spin. There was even a trademark outside-the-boot low rocket to Robbo that I missed during the game. It's a subtle difference, but I think a lot of times he passes the ball not to a teammate, but to where he thinks a teammate should be. We have an incredible luxury of having a playmaker playing at right-back.

His carelessness in giving the ball away, particularly in our own half has been frustrating this season. But he’s improved his defending from last season and boy was he good in this game.
Hope he can continue like this because if he’s as good as this in attack Salah will be purring at the space he’s afforded because of it and the fact he can be on the receiving end of great passes.

He's needed a rest all season. Wish that we had an adequate replacement when it was enforced on him.
Yeah, it's fair to say that England somehow managing to fluke their way into the semi finals has had an impact on a fair few players this season, two of which play for us, it's no coincidence that they're only now finding their real form.

Expecting them to maintain that level into the end of the season may be a bit much though, hopefully I'm wrong about that & they can power through.

Its almost more of a shame that the replacement ready to step up (Hoever) had his own issues meaning he couldn't step straight in. But I agree - it has been clear throughout that his willingness to hold a position high on the right, combined with threatening runs and killer balls has been a loss. The balance he provides also helps Robbo out hugely as the oppo can never properly mark both - they are an incredible double act.

You could also see how we have missed the Salah/TAA combination down the right side. We were much more fluent, quick to break and TAA set up Salah in a more attacking position than in previous games. Playing the ball early so that the defenders cant close down the space.

He's an amazing player.

In my view he doesn't belong at RB in the long term. Like Gerrard, he can look good in any position, but there's just too much about him to limit him there. He belongs ultimately in midfield. But he's great where he is for the time being.

This compilation confirms your point, the skills he displays are of a CM

Only if we put in a similarly attack minded RB surely - at the moment he has shown that he is indispensible in that position. His crossing is a weapon.

As much as I agree with that, the thought of having such a skilled player there (like Cafu maybe?) at RB is something I’d love to continue having. Only if our midfield keeps improving mind.

He's not that far off Robbo considering he's played fewer games :

Robbo : 0 goals 10 assists from 33 games
TAA : 1 goal 6 assists from 25 games (2 as sub)

Some of his one touch passing, long passing, and control is superb. He's going to be a mainstay of our team for many seasons.

Robbo has 10 assists in 33 games?! That's fucking amazing from left back.

Another way to look at it is this (I'm ignoring the two games TAA came on as a sub as likely they weren't serious minutes and Robbo never comes off), from starts they BOTH have the same record of 0.31 assists (+ goal in TAA's case) per game.

We've won 16 of the 19 games he's played in the league this season, drawing 2 and losing 1.
Just to highlight the importance of this kid.

That is an amazing stat. Especially concidering that in the League a player like Salah has 0,62 goals per game. Another interesting fact is that Robbo apparently has a record of 0,31 goals per game without scoring a single goal.
