The Value of Sterling still dropping ?

But in this case not because of Brexit.

With City signing Sane for 37m , it surely raises questions about City's long term commitment to Raheem Sterling.
Bigger things were expected of him and he hasn't pushed on as City would have hoped.

So if Raheem was available for 30m or so - would you be tempted to take him back ?

No. Maybe if Balotelli was as part of the deal and he must start in at least 99% of the games.

Klopp could do wonders with Sterling, he's an odious little shit though, so would be hard to be happy at his return.

For £25 - £30 m we would be crazy not to consider it. If we could offload Benteke and bring Sterling back for the same amount that would be tremendous business. As others have said hes pretty much ideally suited to Klopps game. He will probably be frozen out by Pep though as he gives the ball away an insane amount

No way. He has made his bed, now he can lie in it.
Hopefully West Brom take him on in a couple of years.

I understand the sentiment but really when evaluatinf players the primary question is 'Would he improve our team?" With Sterling the answer to that is obviously a yes.

Suarez acted like a cunt to get out too, but wed be stupid not to have him back if it was an option

City don't need to sell, so maybe Guardiola wants to see if he can improve Sterling. He's certainly a fan of quick attacking players, so he may want to put him and Sane on the pitch and see what happens.

I agree that his wastefulness in possession is unlikely to go down well, but I'd be surprised if he wasn't given at least a season.

As for a return to Liverpool, I'm not sure he'd welcome that any more than a large number of our fans. His exit was handled very poorly indeed, and created a lot of anger.

Unfortunately, no matter how big a prick you think he is, the worst case scenario for his career isn't West Brom, it's becoming a zillionaire in China.

The way he handled his departure was despicable but I remember stories about how Sterling was actually still quite popular with some LFC personnel, who put all the nonsense down to Aidy Ward, and at his best he did do well for us. If things don't go well for him under Guardiola and the money was right (I wouldn't even go to £25 mill.personally - 20 max for me) there might be a case for it, though I suspect he'd have to get himself a new agent if he wanted to come back.

I'm pretty sure he could do better than both of those options. He'd have interested clubs in Italy and Spain etc too.

Forget he's English for a minute and pretend he's Albanian or something, he just is not a 25-30mill player, he isn't. He's got short distance acceleration and no brain. He's never created or scored enough for us or city. There's no way I'd want him in our team over Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Lallana, Ojo, Wijnaldum. Thanks but no thanks. And his agent is a massive cunt.

I'm not sure why we'd want him back at all. For any price and nothing to do with how he left. He hasn't pushed on (as some of us thought/hoped might happen) and I'd rather explore what Klopp's imports can bring to the team than bring Sterling back. He's not a world beater and may have plateaued already and yes I realise he's still young but some never kick on.

No... It's obvious that Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard made him look better than he actually is (mainly Suarez). We are well stacked in that position.

There's a chance Pep could get him playing to his potential. The reason I think that's unlikely isn't that I don't think there's more in him than he's shown at Citeh, it's that their fans already hate the balloon huffing little cunt. I don't think they'll give him a chance. I know loads of Citeh fans and all of them roll their eyes and start sighing expletives as soon as you mention his name.

Sterling is currently in that unwanted position of being the UK's most hated footballer.

There's been a few who temporarily held that position: Terry, Suarez, Cole, Keane, Costa, Diouf, Bowyer, Bellamy, Tennants, Beckham, but at least most of those had the support of their own fans.

Sterling and his bling-tastic capers have alienated LFC fans, England fans and even City fans don't seem to like him. He's going to get booed everywhere he goes this season, which seems a bit unfair.

There were suggestions that quite a few Citeh fans didn't want him even before he signed because of the way he left us (though that would soon change if he got his chance and took it).

Mind you, if this cuts any eventual fee to something derisory - and if he fecked Ward off - I'd still consider taking him back. I don't agree that his good displays for us were merely down to others.

Typical of the young player with the world at his feet who thinks he's made it.....

I suspect his work ethic has degraded at Citeh under Pellegrini and therefore he lost interest, we saw what a little shit he could be the 1st few sessions Brendan took and he answered him back. He's too tied up in shagging young 18 year olds and thinking he's a gangster than actually settling down and making the most of his talent.

He started last season ok, then just went off a cliff.... no surprise as the pressure of playing for a new team where you have to prove yourself proved too much.

If he can grow up a bit and knuckle down he can still be a top top player, my worry is that he doesnt have the IQ to understand this and therefore will become Englands answer to Balotelli.

We did well to fleece City for 50M

I'm sure Sterling is still happy with the move. They won the shitty Carling Cup, he's playing in the CL next season, City are definitely in the running for title, he kept his England place and Pep just arrived. Not all doom and gloom unless he continues to get boo'd in a lot of grounds next season which as Brendan said, is a bit unfair.

Now this really is make or break season for him. If Pep decides to work with him and use him then it's all rosy for Sterling. However, he might be used a fringe player with Sane, KDB, Silva, Aguero etc etc taking up the majority of the attacking positions. Who knows what will happen him this season and I don't really care to be honest. I didn't want to sell him at all (I realise Aidy Ward made it nearly impossible for him to stay anyway). I don't like selling our best players (which he probably was at the time) and his performances for City last season aren't an indicator of how he might have performed if he stayed with us or worked under Klopp. That'a all guesswork.

So basically you'd all take mane over sterling?

I wouldn't

100% Mane. (For Southampton) 25 Goals 75 Games. 1 in 3. (or 72 Goals in 185 games) Career total.

Sterling. (Career total) 34 Goals. 176 Games. 1 in 5.

Besides that, I also think Mane is a better overall, more effective *attacking* player than Sterling

It's obvious Mane is a much, much, much better finisher than Sterling, although to give the devil his due, Sterling has the advantage of being a better stand-in full back and has showed good ability at the top of a diamond formation too. Sterling works harder defensively too, but that's not to say Mane is lazy. But overall, in their best position, Mane is the better player.

In answer to the thread question, we don't really need him anymore. I don't think he'd make the first team.
