The Surprise Departure

Let's hope this has the opposite effect of the departures of Pako and Bergues.

EDIT: DOH! That's what I get for being a lazy cunt.[/quote]

I was thinking earlier that we have about 4 players who you could say for CERTAIN will be here next year!
Reina - Hmmm
Johnson - Hmmm
Agger - 100% staying
Skrtel - Going
Enrique - Hmmm
Allen - Hmmm
Lucas - Hmmm
Gerrard - 100% staying
Henderson - 100% staying
Shelvey - Hmmm
Coutinho - 100% staying
Sturridge - 100% staying
Borini - Hmmm
Suarez - Hmmm
Sterling - 100% staying
Assaidin - Hmmm

Its all pretty vague.

Yea so I reckon 11 members of the first team squad will know the agony of one final ecstatic embrace and face touch from Fudgie this summer.

If we are ever going to sell Johnson this summer is the right time.
His value is going to go into freefall from now on.

Perhaps, but strengthening central defence and midfield (and goalkeeper if Pepe leaves) are far higher priority than replacing Magic.

Now ?

We wouldn't get half of what we paid for him if we tried to sell him now anyway.

Well the 8 or 9 million we would get now is better than letting him go for free in 2 years after running down his huge salary.
Isn't he on 140k a week?

we're supposed to be building teams, not destroying them, getting rid of the no.1 england right back, when we need to invest in attack, attack, attack (a cb as well), is silly.

Did the same logic apply when Skrtel and Agger were being courted last summer?
We lost out then so how is it silly?

Just because he's the #1 England right back that doesn't mean he's good enough.

No, but it emphasises how difficult it's going to be to find better, at a time when our need elsewhere is far greater.

There are other priorities, but Johnson is part of a defence which has leaked a lot of needless goals, and he is responsible for a disproportionate amount of them.

I'm hoping Kelly can offer him some real competition next season. He needs it.
