The search for a new DM

Well that has more to do with THEIR (lack of) quality than being PL proven.

Rightttt…but not always?

We can’t just say “oh well every player that’s succeeded from a lesser prem club and stepped up and succeeded at a top prem club is because they were prem proven” and then say the ones that flop at the bigger clubs its down to not being talented (enough), as I said most the players signed by the top 6 who are successes come from abroad and had no prior Prem experience…look at City, Bernardo KDB, Rodri, Dias, Laporte, Ederson, Akanji, Gundo etc. Look at Arsenal, Gabriel Saliba Partey Odegaard Martinelli etc.

Or ... Mane, Salah, Robbo, VvD, Hendo, Gini etc.

My point was though that the players on the list you gave failed because of their lack of quality not because they came from the PL or abroad. It's tough to say who's going to make it and maybe it comes down to other factors. I'd still take Lavia over the Kid from Brazil though.

I don't think he's more of a risk than Lavia, partly because he will probably cost 50% (or more) lesser but is not "half worse". I don't think we are in for him though - hopefully Schmadtke proves me wrong.

With Firmino and Fabs leaving, we need someone to keep Allison and family happy.

If we signed, I'd be happy, he is very Gini-esk but not better than Alvarez in that number 6 role. Teun Koopmeiners (TK) is the most Hendo like replacement
Next season's MF
Thiago?? (if he goes no replacement)
Dom
Ali Mac
CJ
Alvarez
TK
Steph
Elliott
Morton (sold or loan)

I think they're fine, you're forgetting that Thiago is Brazilian too and that they could have friends who play in other teams around the area.

If Hendo and Fabs do go, I’d break the bank for Caicedo. Used to the prem, proven quality and he’s used to playing with Mac.

absolutely would be my first choice
We’ve been down this road before with Jude, we aint spending silly money on 1 player when we still got a fee areas that need filling.

Reddy has already dismissed he’s on our radar so that’s probably where we ought to leave it?

nah for me, he’s number one choice. Unless it’s genuinely silly money. £70-80 mill and it’s on

One of the stories is that we did approach Calceido, but he said he was going to Chelsea, which is why the club are now putting it out there that he is not a target

I wonder if Chelsea have it in the bag but are still waiting on a few players being shifted. Lukaku, Ziyech fell through didn’t he? Cucarella, definitely a couple more on the exit list too.

Crazy we're having to hear of this many Chelsea players departing.....when in no way should they be allowed to have the squad size they've possessed for years.

The other 19 teams comply with the rules yet Chelsea can have as many players out on loan as they do in their squad? And the players they have out on loan aren't exactly kids either. I find it scandalous.

They rejected Arsenal's 80m bid for him in Jan.....plus since then he's signed a new deal. No chance he leaves for anything shy of 100m including add ons.

80m upfront and 20m add ons is still ridiculous money. This is the reason why we pulled out the Rice, Jude and possibly Enzo deals.

Put 30m towards a DM and 40m towards a CB.

Summer sorted.

Doesnt sound like they have made a bid yet. Brighton want 100 mill.

£100 mill? Yeh sod that.

I agree we need a new CB. Definitely. If VVD or Ibou get injured it’s a big step down. But if both Hendo and fabs go, no way £30mill on a DM will cut it. We need much better quality than that. Aaaand a CB

You don't think £30m is good enough to get a DM that can help improve us?

Pretend it's 2015......if you had the choice to sign Matic or Kante for 30m or Fred or Partey for 55m what do you go for?

Moises to me is a Toyota Corolla, reliable, and steady but he is priced in same bracket as a Ferrari, and so out of the question. We can afford 3(Sport Edition) and 5 series BMWs like Koopenmeiners and Alvarez with change left over to get an MPV like Tosin Adarabioyo

Which player takes the Nissan Micra of analogies?

there’s a chance that a £30 mill DM may improve us in an established team. But when you already have a brand new midfield that’s never played together, I think it’s a big risk, and one we can’t afford to take. So no, I’d much rather be less completely crazily risky. Pay more for someone already at a level we need. This is not the time for potential.

Dont care. I doubt Pitaluga and Taffarel have spouses in the same age range as Allison's. He is our most important player. Add a couple more Brazilians in his age range to keep him and his family happy.

I'm sure he's fine.
No need to treat him like a lonely hamster.

I don't think we need to worry about Ali ever being unhappy tbh, he's settled at Liverpool....he's gone through some awful ordeals and had the support from everyone at the club including the fans, he's very aware with the love and admiration everyone has for him & unlike some other footballers out there, he values that a great deal.....far more over some 30 year old Brazilian with a hot spouse we were to sign.....

I am not saying sign Lucas and Willian to keep Allison happy. If this new kid Andre appears quality, then sign him. We get the added benefit of keeping Allison settled.

Playing with an entire new midfield regardless could be deemed as risky.....the £30m doesn't need to go on potential, we can sign an experienced player 25-27 for that if needs be....or maybe another Gini type? I'd even take a Can type.

We haven't got by in the Klopp era by throwing about hundreds of mills for players.

I'm not against the idea and yeah it might also help Andre settle in too. But it shouldn't be about Alisson
