Is Amrabat still alive?
Oooooooh now we talking. That Moroccan heat v that Mexican heat awwwwww weeeeeee!!!! Not sure who wins that 1 Markeh boy.

No but in all seriousness, Alvarez wipes the floor with him....let Amrabat go to Atleti or Utd.

Wary of anyone that’s been at Ajax a while and not been picked up

As in ever orrrr....how long are you stretching that "a while" for?

It's been mentioned BVB and Chelsea were both very close to signing him before the plug was pulled (from Ajax's side).

Just using Spurs, VDV, ALderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen were all at Ajax for a significant period before they left.....Ajax isn't just some cannon fodder side you leave after a year or 2....they have 1 of if not the best academy in the world, they give these players a platform to thrive on.

If you're looking for solid 6 who is good in the air won't cost a bomb, has CL experience Edson Alvarez is the perfect option

Teun Koopenmieners is the versatile MF who can play anywhere in MF and at £30m is the perfect Hendo replacement.
So for £65m we've got a 6 and a hybrid 8.
I am not saying he is any near as good as Gerrard, who is? But Koopenmieners does look good in the clips

Same probably applies to Amrabat too, players that stick around too long at ‘smaller’ clubs give me the malinkovic-savic, William Carvalho, Reuben neves vibes. A lot of the top talent at Ajax leaves sooner than 4 or 5 seasons, Anthony, Martinez, De Jong, De Light only played a season each before moving. Alvarez could will be different of course.

The problem is, if we send Schmadtke to Amsterdam with a bag of cash, all he’s likely to come back with is a STD, the munchies and a fuzzy memory of being somewhere different.

No I get all of that, the only thing I'd say is the ratio of bigger clubs (with the money to prize these players away) is far smaller than the pool of very good players at these so called lesser clubs waiting on a proposal and are ready to make that next step....some of them even will go under the radar, you know....we'll never know how good Lee Cattermole, Mark Noble or Robbie Savage could've been.

[bcolor=#ffffff]I'm only kidding with those 3, duh.[/bcolor]

actually I’m talking shite, i thought i heard in a podcast those Ajax lads only did a single full season each but that’s not true. After looking it’s all 2/3/4 seasons

Around €35m

Dortmund had him in the bag at that price then decided to stick with Emre Can.

Weird.

Can had the best season of his career for Dortmund and will potentially replace Reus as captain for the new season as well.

Fuck this - lets just get Thuram, Kone, and Lavia - that will sort us for the next 8 years.

Fab not in squad that's gone to Germany but Hendo is ..
Fucking hell, over £10 mill?!
So we decided having Henderson around for another season is worth it. Cool, hope it works out.

We might be factoring that 10m in to our replacement plans. I can understand being weary

I may be in the minority but I'd keep Henderson if its 10m

That experience is worth the 10m.

I agree with the sentiment but, tbh, I think some bridges have been burned. LGBTQ+ groups aren't happy with him, some of our fanbase (who disliked him anyway) see him as being greedy.

Im unsure how easy it would be for him to find a way back

10 mil is a lot if all of a sudden you are going to be in a seller's market with a bit of a rush for two midfielders. The 10 mil may well get eaten by having to buy a player for too much, for instance lavia for 50 mil.

Then it becomes which one is a better sale for us. Hendo for 10, or fab for 40. It's not that daft a decision, but hendo is the better one to lose, if the fees were more similar, obviously.

What experience does he have that Thiago doesn't?
Honestly, have you seen what Thiago has won?
If we're talking pure experience Thiago is easily our most experienced player. He's won shit in 3 countries. He speaks 3 languages maybe Italian too.
Granted he's injured a lot, but that doesn't take away anything from his experience.

Anyway, like I said before we have several experienced players. I heard the same kind of talk when Carra quit, oh "the voice in the dressing room" etc. We almost won the league after he left.
The only reason to keep Hendo with a £10 mill bid possibly being on the table is for sentimental reasons. I can't see another reason for it. He hasn't been vital for us for the last two seasons imo and if Keita wasn't such a fraud I doubt he would have started when Thiago joined.

Give the captaincy to Trent I say or Virgil, Robbo, Ali or Salah who are a league cup win shy of being as experienced as Hendo.

I get it, but we know that Hendo isn't a DM. We finally started winning shit when Klopp realised it too and bought Fabs.
Selling Fabs will leave us with a gap, while Hendo has at least 5 players competing for his position.

I'm not and never have been Henderson's biggest fan however you cannot understate his value to the team and squad in terms of motivation and leadership , he's a great role model to have around

I think you can if you never really rated him in the first instance.
