It's got fuck all to do with superstition (in my opinion). Superstition is bollocks. This is Anfield is about pride in LFC.
it makes so much sense though. downing's perspective is as unromantic and demystifying as his football.

Stuart Downing depresses me.
I now have to find it in me to support the lad, in spite of never ever liking or rating him as a player and he has had a long career of mediocrity. Less said about the price we paid, the better it is.
He does improve our left flank marginally when he plays, but that is no major achievement as we had no player to play that roll previously. We paid a big price for someone who can do a job. I hope this spells the end of "Buying English" tactic, because honestly the English are rubbish at the moment.

i can't square my distaste for free market capitalism with my support for lfc.
It's funny cos all these dissing will almost virtually stop once Downing starts scoring a few goals and make a few assists.
