The race

Citeh are 17 points behind us and our GD is more than twice as good. I'm all in favour of not counting your chickens before they hatch, but Istanbul will no longer be football's greatest miracle if they overhaul us now.
City were dead and buried weeks ago. Pointless even talking about them. Even OPTA gives them a ZERO % chance of winning it!

Hey I'll take it. What a boost that is. Seems totally doable to get through this run 8pts clear now, given they have to go to Forest. More or less over if we do that.

Every time I see them play I get angrier at that result. I can't let it go.
They have the players capable of lifting their game in one off matches.

They proved that by winning two cups under their last manager.

Comparing our game to the other shite they produce week in week out is futile and senseless.

What an unexpected shot in the arm this is for the players tomorrow.

Imagine we come out of our run of 5 games further ahead than when we started!

One game at a time but this is a huge result.

Arsenal love a sending off.

Wish we were still in the FA Cup now. 😉

An eight-point gap generally equates to around five or six league places this season. If we somehow win today, it would be the difference between sitting 16th and 8th in the table. If Arsenal also fail to beat Forest, I might as well start clearing my weekends towards the end of May. Another five or six-point swing, and they’re finished.

That said, I suspect we’ll end up with a draw—so the internal paranoia will rumble on for another month, but we can do them if we give it everything and play even close to our best.

I’m actually feeling like I’ll be ok even if we lose.

If we keep this up then we'll finish on 82 points, 12 x 1,75 =21.

This means Arsenal would need 30 points out of 36 in their remaining 12 games because of their worse GD.

Yesterday's loss cost them dearly.
I really think GD is a red herring.

IF they were to draw level with us (8 points) it would mean them winning 3 games while we lose 2 and draw 1. If that were to happen they would improve their GD by at least 3 and ours would decrease by at least 2 (minimum based on wins & losses by 1 goal only). So the GD advantage would then be only 3, which is a negligible amount.

But they won't make up 8 points on us anyway

Which wasn't my point, smartarse.

If we carry on as we did, it might be easily enough.
I got the overall point but the data you used ‘if we keep this up’ wasn’t accurate…

Forget the ‘smartarse’ stuff and you’ll see that my point strengthens your point.
