The race

When you say 'thrown away', do you really mean that..? You really think that we bottled all the leagues we didn't win?
I think either down to a lack of ambition from ownership, lack of quality in depth or lack of trust in fringe players has cost us titles. Titles seem to have a lot of sliding doors moments. Whether it's a 90th minute Macheda goal, kompany 30 yard thunderbolt, Gerrard slip, or a coutinho substitution; these moments tend to not go in our favour. Perhaps in cups we've had our rub of the green but in leagues we haven't. Confidence breeds these moments. An anxious Anfield helped cause the Gerrard slip (and subsequent Stevie Me performance). Ferguson having the nerve to throw on a Macheda when desperate for a goal. Kompany deciding to thunderbastard it when leicester were proving stubborn.

I wouldn't say we've bottled the league previously, but this year we absolutely would have if it happens. A weaker broken city, an arsenal getting results but running on fumes.

I don't know if we have a manager willing to make the brave calls. I don't know if we have players with the bollocks to grab a game by the scruff of the neck.

I would have bought into Nunez at Brentford being that kind of catalyst if it wasn't followed by the same shite performances.

I get all that... I just think that you saying 'thrown way' suggests that we should have won all those other titles, when the reality is, in my mind at least, we only really lost two of them due to our own failings (Rafa, Rodgers), rather than we were simply beaten by better teams.

And, I would have thought that the fact that you've seen many of these players get us over the line in the recent past would allow you to breathe a little more than you do. Obviously not, says you... I'm tense, but nothing like it was with any of those other races, becase at least we've seen Jurgen's title.

Whatever else you can say about Klopp's teams, we lost most of the close battles and finals that mattered. The only time we won the title we were about 25 points ahead and could take the last 2 months off. There isn't really much evidence they were good under pressure.

I'd say it's probably exactly that period that's making some of us twitchy now.

I think that's very harsh - we'd have won 3 titles for Jurgen, but for those cheating cunts - but I get your point...

I've seen these players get us over the line in games that are the game before the important one. Usually, these players struggle to make a difference against difficult opposition in the crucial games. 2 lost CL finals, a few times top of the league and fell away. League we won? We just ran and didn't stop and didn't look around. Cl we won? Fucking spurs. Domestic cups? Really should have twatted Chelsea off the park consistently, but it went to pens more often than not.

I'm not sold on some of these players ability when it comes to the "winning" moment. They'll absolutely get you to the moment and be sensational on the way. The important moment? The chips are down in an actual final? I'm not as sold on them as others.

Of course, those players are older now, or had their heads turned by other clubs. So should I expect more?

Jesus, that's harsh, mate... Seems like you're putting a 'but...' next to everything we won. I'd debate you, but I'm obviously not changing your mind. Just don't understand how anybody sees losing by one point, twice, to that cheating monster as anything other than used being fucked over, and as for the two CL finals, well, it was Madrid and there were circumstances.

Anyways, I'll leave it here. Not gonna fall out with anybody I respect on this site about their opinions. Have a good weekend, mate.

I know I'm locked in this headspace, and that's on me. I'm not about changing others opinions, just (for me) it's how I feel. I wouldn't argue with anyone feeling different as I understand that view as well. It's just not mine

You've heard of the red mist.

We've got a brown mist of despair of titles past lost coming in.

A win is what we need this weekend. Not another fecking draw.

The way I’m looking at it is, again the 8 wins target means we have wiggle room to not take full points in 4 games, but Arsenal only have a wiggle room to drop points in 2 games.

The home game Vs Arsenal is critical - I think they’re going to have to win it to take the title - not impossible and they’ll likely try to kill the game and nick a goal from a set piece.

Going to be interesting when the CL fires up again.

Each league game that passes intensifies the pressure and narrows the margin of error - we just have a little more wiggle room than Arsenal.
