The race

The problem with Havertz is he doesn't play alongside Mane and Salah.

If he had two wide attackers scoring for fun, all his grunt work would be better appreciated. He also has some glaring misses that obscure the decent stats and overall contribution he makes.

Crumbling because we’re weak mentally is better than because we’re tired or injured?

Fucking hell Dreamie that some position you’ve contorted yourself into.
Why? If we lose because we aren’t good enough for any unavoidable reason I can accept.

Losing because we were quad chasing dickheads with a squad not suitable to that endeavour I’ll be raging.

It’s a pretty straight position.

Just clarifying - you’d rather we fold mentally than try to win too many trophies.

Nah. We will be just fine as soon as the Diaz as a 9 thing ends. Which should be soon with Jota and Nunez making the bench right now.

Hmmm. Plenty of people including a few pundits saying Konate fouled on lead up to the goal. One of theirs celebrates in front of our fans. Jones goes across to defend the fans. Slot
Kicks off at the foul that should have been given. Both get reds.

If this is played well, siege mentality kicks in and they rally. Let’s see. Interesting. Swings and roundabouts. Arsenal lose Havertz. We gain no injuries.

IF, we bounce back, which we should do against wolves, at home, then overall this is a reasonably decent day.

Hah. It's the 85th minute and we need a goal. Diaz has run himself into the ground covering every blade of the grass except the ones in the box, and Nunez has everything in his locker but continues to mysteriously suffer from a lack of goals/ confidence/ English/ ability/ some other excuse. We turn to the bench, to Jota, who always seems to nick a goal when we need it.

Oh. We remember the cunt has injured himself last week trying to clatter a defender, having recently come back from injury.

I agree with that but Diaz isn’t a centre forward. He’s left. But not as good as Gakpo.

We’ve got a nice run to the end of the season. Long enough for Jota to stay fit.

I wonder how Arsenal's injuries will hamper them. To be honest, if they didn't have any, I'd take them to finish stronger than us. They're better defensively. We're 7 points ahead and have to play them. We need them to drop points, we will. And we have to play them. They've worried me from the start of the season and, if I was a fan of theirs, I'd be moaning about injuries etc. they've been unlucky. Obvs, fuck them, I don't care about that, but they're quality.

Some will come back in June, see us champions by 16 points with the European cup and league cup in the cabinet and think maybe we should’ve had a quad.
I’ll happily muse over that for eternity than add another season where we chased the quad only to lose the league twice and a European trophy.

Biggest problem I'm seeing it our midfield has become porous. When it's working right we're all over them but we struggle against teams who are up for a fight. Gravenberch is a pedigree racehorse but sometimes you need a big loud warthog in there. Little protection for our defence and our forwards getting isolated in too many matches. Oh for a Fabino, Milner or Henderson in these kind of games.

A loss would have piled the pressure on, a win would have us thinking it’s done. A draw is never a terrible result at Everton and fingers crossed no injuries.

We do need to go and beat Wolves now.

7pts is not a huge lead if we drop points in back to back games and Arsenal take maximum points.

We will be thankful for the rest in the next round of the FA Cup. It also means we have longer to focus on our next opponents because even though our main players may be rested, the coaching staff have to focus on the cup game.

We deffo needed Endo.

I remember when we were coming back from Covid. I wanted to give loads of players the rest of the season off. Extend the legs in our players.

You wanted to chase records. Points. Goals. Everything. We did then went to shit.

A quad would’ve been a record.

No I would rather we give ourselves the best possible chance to win the league.

Less other games in a stupidly congested fixture list gives us a better chance.

It’s not rocket science but then maybe I’m giving you too much credit.

We are risk or that every single week. The stakes are high.

I’m relatively calm tbh. I don’t think Arsenal can go on a better run than us.

It’s not City of Klopps era we are dealing with.
Just lost in the fa cup. Our game in hand now being 1 point rather than 3 due to a 98th minute equaliser

These are the things that can cause a wobble, especially back to back. We've not been playing well for a while and we've been getting results in spite of some performances

Slot needs to motivate these players

Yes I’ve learnt my lesson big time. You were 100% right. No medals for record points. Every premier league medal is worth the same.

I want our Klopp players to have two.

They can but unlikely as the FA CUp was effectively our reserves and everyone is looking at the league. Everyone wants that.

Obviously we need to go beat Wolves now but we’ve had talks of wobbles numerous times this season and haven’t.

I don't want to be that guy cos I still think we'll win it, but 2 things should concern us:

1. Someone posted a while ago that Arsenal's longest winning run is only 3. Well ours is only 1 better than that. Which leads on to
2. To some extent we're living off our first third of the season. After the win over City we had 34 from 13 games. That's on course for 99pts. Since then we've won 6 and drawn 5. That's 79 over a season. That's basically our middle third of the season. It's not title winning form. We need to step it up.
